"NCTE's Convention is the most historic annual literacy convening for teachers and educators. In this, the 109th meeting, our speaker lineup celebrates the strong relationship between authors and educators that is a hallmark of the event," said Executive Director Emily Kirkpatrick.

The Annual Convention will draw teachers, school leaders, and literacy professionals from preK through college and will offer one of the nation's largest forums for professional development, research, and literacy leadership.

Program Chair and NCTE President-Elect Leah Zuidema selected this year's Spirited Inquiry theme. "This Convention was planned to help teachers rekindle their passion for literacy education. It's a place to discover new ideas and rediscover the heart of teaching. That happens as much with our celebrated speakers as it does with our incredible attendees," said Zuidema.

In order to support participation in the local area, special pricing for teachers from Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virgina is available. Visit convention.ncte.org to learn more.

The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) is the nation's most comprehensive literacy organization, supporting more than 25,000 teachers across the preK–college spectrum. Each year this support is driven by research-based position statements that shape understanding and policy, the publication of 46 peer-reviewed journals and more than a dozen professional books, and an Annual Convention. Through the expertise of its members, NCTE has served at the forefront of every major improvement in the teaching and learning of English and the language arts since 1911. www.ncte.org
