NephCure Kidney International® Holds Countdown to a Cure Gala in NYC
Event on track to raise $1 million for research into FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., Nov. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With a goal of bringing more effective treatments for rare glomerular kidney diseases (including Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), Minimal Change Disease (MCD), IgA Nephropathy, and Membranous Nephropathy) to the market faster, NephCure Kidney International (NKI) is holding its 13th annual fundraising dinner in New York City on Thursday, November 9 at Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers.

The Hood Family from San Antonio, TX

Lauren Simonetti, from Fox Business Network, will host the event, and Ted Hammer will be honored. Ms. Simonetti is the co-anchor of FOX Business Network's FBN:AM, which airs weekdays at 5AM/ET. She joined the network in 2007 as a field producer and made the transition to a business reporter in September 2011. In addition to her role as anchor, Ms. Simonetti also provides daily on-air business reports for local FOX stations across the country.

Theodore S. Hammer, FAIA, LEEP AP, is the Co-Chairman and COO of Mancini-Duffy, an award-winning architectural firm in New York City. An active industry leader, Mr. Hammer is a former Committee Chairman for the New York Chapter of The American Institute of Architects and has served on the Board of the Advisory Council for the Center for Study of the Practice of Architecture. Mr. Hammer has also lectured at the University of Cincinnati School of Architecture, Columbia University, the Pratt Institute, and New York University.

Additional speakers include Kristin Hood and family, of San Antonio, Texas. Kristin's son, Logan, has FSGS and the Hoods are NephCure fundraisers and supporters. Also scheduled to speak is Event Chair, Michael Levine, Vice President of NephCure Kidney International and owner of L&L Painting in Melville, NY. Michael's son Matthew suffers from FSGS and along with his family, Michael is a tireless advocate for more and better treatments for the disease.

The event includes live and silent auctions, music by Current Affair and original artwork for auction and sale by Taylor O. Thomas (www.taylorthomas.com). Taylor is the wife of FSGS patient Will Wellman and is excited to contribute her special talent to making NephCure's Countdown to a Cure a great success.
