"Like Marion Martin, Alexi is a trailblazer and visionary with a long career focused on saving lives and preventing injuries," said Kathy Bernstein, director of Volunteers, Awards, and Scholarships at the National Safety Council. "We are excited to recognize everything she has done to empower women to achieve safety excellence."

Alexi Carli has worked for UPS for 39 years. She has spent 29 of those years in safety, working her way from up from district health and safety director. Carli was instrumental in creating a safety culture at UPS that has resulted in an 84 percent reduction in lost time due to injury, and a 59 percent drop in car crash frequency.

Carli has encouraged other women throughout her career, actively mentoring them and helping them advance. She established a women's group for female UPS employees in the 1980s, worked with the DOT in 1999 to highlight women in transportation, and was one of the original members of UPS Women's Leadership Development Business Resource Group.

Currently, 45 percent of the 510 health, safety and wellness professionals at UPS are female.

Started in 2016, the Marion Martin Award annually celebrates a woman who has excelled in safety professional and brought other women with her.
