SHANGHAI, May 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Emerging markets-focused broker-dealer Mason Baxter is pleased to announce that Monday, 4th December has been confirmed as the date upon which it will hold its 7th Annual Investment Symposium. Held at the firm's Shanghai, China headquarters, the symposium will focus on the key issues likely to have the most profound impact on global markets and the investment management industry through the remainder of the year and on into 2018.
So far, more than 200 invitations have been accepted and the symposium is expected to host more than 400 institutional investors, industry figures and financial intermediaries.
Last year's gathering was attended by over 300 delegates from 10 countries within the Asia Pacific region. Mason Baxter's Chairman and Chief Executive expects this year's to be even more successful.
"One of the biggest worries we had to contend with at last year's event was the deep concern among both individual and institutional investors about the highly-anticipated monetary policy tightening at the US Federal Reserve and what it would mean for Asian financial markets. There was considerable consternation over the Brexit debacle and the possible ramifications of Donald Trump's presidency but, as we've seen, none of these concerns have had quite the impact many had feared," explains the Mason Baxter CEO.
As in previous years, the symposium will feature a number of keynote addresses by industry luminaries including a former Federal Reserve Bank Chairman who, last year, was a voting member on the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), the body which meets several times a year to set US interest rates and monetary policy.
"Another major concern last year centered on the growth of support for populist politics in Europe — particularly in France and the Netherlands — but with centrist parties securing victories in general elections in both countries so far in 2017, we suspect there'll be a collective sigh of relief among our guests this year," says the Chief Investment Officer at Mason Baxter.
