OKLAHOMA CITY, April 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile apps, wearable heart monitors and high-tech shoe soles could help solve some of America's healthcare problems. These cutting-edge products are just a few of the topics up for discussion at the Healthcare Innovation Summit hosted by Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak. The event will be held Friday, April 28 at the Oklahoma State University Health Science Center in Tulsa.
"When it comes to healthcare, the old model isn't working anymore," said Doak. "This summit brings together visionaries with unexplored options that could change the face of modern healthcare. Together, we want to improve patient care, reduce costs and increase access to lifesaving services."
Commissioner Doak, a member of the NAIC Innovation Task Force, will sit down with Oklahoma's congressional delegation the following week. During the Washington D.C. meeting, he will discuss the proposals introduced at the Summit.
"These innovators have solutions no one else has even considered," said Doak. "But they're hitting roadblocks because their ideas are outside the box. I want to encourage our federal and state lawmakers to explore these options and help return power to the states so these big ideas can become reality. If we want to fix healthcare in this country, we have to embrace these new ideas and work together."
Commissioner Doak has invited state and national lawmakers, health insurance company executives and hospital administrators to the event. It is not open to the public. The media are welcome to attend.
