RowdMap, Inc. Chief Scientific Officer speaks at Auburn University U.S. Health Care Policy Conference joining American Medical Association, Baptist Health and Heritage Center.

WASHINGTON, March 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Joshua Rosenthal, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer and Co-Founder at RowdMap, Inc., will be speaking on how identifying, quantifying and reducing low-value care is key to achieving success in value based programs and risk arrangements in order to capture value from population health programs.

Rosenthal joins leaders from the American Medical Association (AMA), Polsinelli and providers like Baptist Health including: Dianne Love, PhD Professor of Medical Accounting at the University of Houston; Mark Williams, MD, Internal Medicine, Baptist Health; Randy Glick, BSB/PM,MCP, Executive Director at the Southern Medical Association; Scott Fenn, Chief Integration Officer at Brookwood Baptist Health of Alabama; Cathy Schoen, Executive Director of the Commonwealth Fund Council of Economic Advisors; David J. Bensema, MD, MBA, FACP, Chief Information Officer for Baptist Health; Julius Hobson, Senior Policy Advisor for Polsinelli; Robert Moffitt, PhD, Senior Fellow at The Heritage Foundation's Center for Health Policy Studies; and Marc Mertz, Vice President of GE Healthcare Camden Group.

The lecture is entitled, "Population Health in a Value-Based World: The Public and Social Impact of Low Value and No Value Care in Evolving Medical Economic Models" and will be delivered at the Auburn University Emerging Issues in U.S. Health Care Policy Conference in Washington, D.C.: http://bit.ly/2lPQ8MS. The lecture will focus on low-value and no-value care and its policy, market and consumer adoption.

The lecture will focus on the payment models under which population health becomes financially viable for providers. Providers revenue can be categorized as at risk, from Fee for Service based low-value care, protected, which means sustainable in both Fee for Service and Pay for Value payment models, and uncaptured. Uncaptured revenue such as that generated by population health initiatives, becomes viable in value-based arrangements.

"To deliver public and social good at scale, it needs to be financially viable. Population health initiatives deliver high value care and that is most economically sustainable in value based models," said Joshua Rosenthal of RowdMap, Inc.

About RowdMap, Inc.:

An Ernst and Young EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® winner, RowdMap's Risk-Readiness® benchmarks help health plans, physician groups, and hospital systems identify, quantify, and reduce no-value care that physicians deliver–a central tenet of successful pay-for-value programs.

Through practice pattern and referral analysis, RowdMap's benchmarks identify the health care entities that manage unwarranted and unexpected variation in care. This variation leads to more than $850 billion in no-value care annually. Payers and physicians use RowdMap's physician and population health benchmarks to create strategies that put these highest performing physicians at the center of networks and then design products, organize clinical programs, and coordinate sales and marketing around them.

RowdMap's platform comes preloaded with benchmarks for every physician, hospital, and zip code in the United States–no IT integration required. RowdMap's Risk-Readiness® Platform works across all market segments and has significantly larger returns than traditional medical economics approaches.
