Egon Zehnder to Host Discussion on Future of Leadership and Talent within Energy Industry at CERAWeek 2017
Leaders will Deliver Insights to Energy Executives on Key Topics including Digital Transformation, Leadership Diversity and Board Effectiveness

HOUSTON, March 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Egon Zehnder, a global leader in executive search and leadership advisory services, today announced its upcoming participation in CERAWeek, the annual international gathering of the energy industry. As an official partner of CERAWeek, leaders from Egon Zehnder's Global Energy Practice will lead discussions on the critical leadership and human capital issues affecting the future of the energy industry, including digital transformation, leadership diversity and board effectiveness.

"We are nearing a pivotal point for the energy industry where the impending market rebound will expose which companies effectively used the downturn as an opportunity to focus on developing future talent and addressing transformation, and those that did not," said Carol SingletonSlade, head of Egon Zehnder's Global Energy and U.S. Board practices. "We look forward to engaging in conversations with leaders about addressing disruption, understanding how to lead innovation and embracing the transformative power of diversity to ensure longevity as the sector continues to evolve."

For the sixth consecutive year, Egon Zehnder will host the CEO Breakfast Panel at CERAWeek, where energy leaders from around the world gather for candid discussions about leadership and talent in the sector. This year's distinguished panelists include Clay Williams, President and CEO, National Oilwell Varco, Melody Meyer, former President, Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration & Production, Dheeraj "D" Verma, President, Quantum Energy Partners, and Jim Gallogly, Director, DuPont and former CEO of LyondellBasell. While the CEO Breakfast Panel is a private event, Egon Zehnder experts will be onsite throughout the week discussing many of the key topics, including:

  • Creating the context for transformation: In a constantly changing environment, the ability to make rapid changes in course – to adapt and find new solutions – is critical. Energy boards and CEOs must be armed with the tools to objectively measure how innovative their organizations are, and are capable of becoming, in order to effectively bring them into the future.
  • Maximizing board effectiveness during market downturn: From board effectiveness reviews to evergreen succession planning, energy boards are well-poised to take the helm and lead disruption.
  • The rise of the energy Chief Digital Officer: Energy companies have been reliant on operational technology for decades, and over the past 10 years the industry has started to take information technology seriously. Now, an interesting trend is emerging – the push for getting the best and brightest thinking around technology into the energy space. This is leading to increased demand for energy Chief Digital Officers, whose leadership will require using technology to meet today's transformation and innovation challenges.
  • The urgent need for leadership diversity in energy: The results of Egon Zehnder's recent Global Board Diversity Analysis show the energy sector in last place globally in terms of board positions held by women. With many studies pointing to diversity as positively affecting business performance and innovation, leading diversity at the highest levels of energy organizations should be a key priority.

CERAWeek will take place from March 6 through March 10, 2017 in Houston, Texas.
