The event is being expanded to include 32 sessions focused on behavior management, time management, emergent writing, STEM, and centers and games. Teachers will learn new ways to introduce foundational skills in both math and literacy, powerful classroom management strategies for improving behavior and fitting it all in, and fun games and centers that increase motivation and engagement. They'll also explore simple strategies for integrating technology into the classroom and proven ideas for making instruction more developmentally appropriate.

"SDE is proud to support Tennessee's dedication to quality learning environments for its youngest learners. Pre-kindergarten teachers who attend this conference will discover new and better ways to prepare their children for a great kindergarten experience. There are many points in a child's education career that they can fall behind. We developed this conference to increase the chances that every pre-kindergartner in Tennessee stays on course," SDE program developer Kymra Kurinskas says.

For the third consecutive year, the conference will gather leading early childhood experts in the country who will share their insights, knowledge, and experience in ensuring the success of pre-kindergartners. Attendees will hear first-hand from author Shannon Samulski who will discuss how to prepare children for kindergarten, blogger and pre-kindergarten teacher Palma Lindsay who will address learning centers, and National Board Certified Kathy Griffin who will identify red flags for common learning challenges. In addition, teacher and blogger Elizabeth Hall will lead a session on cheers and chants while National Board Certified Sandi Reyes will examine STEM in the pre-kindergarten classroom.

"The 2016 Conference for Tennessee Pre-Kindergarten Teachers last February was a big hit and this year's conference follows in its footsteps. It's bigger and better with more sessions, cutting-edge speakers, and the hottest topics. Long after the closing session, teachers will look back at the great connections made, memories created, and laughs shared," Kurinskas says.
