Alcantara® Makes A Styling Statement At 2016 Paris Auto Show

PARIS, Nov. 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- BMW, Ferrari, Porsche and other major automakers featured luxury interior material from Alcantara® on a variety of concept vehicles and new cars shown at this year's Mondial de l'Automobile.

BMW i8 CrossFade

BMW used the Paris show to preview several new specialty models available in Europe in 2017. The BMW i3 CrossFade and BMW i8 CrossFade, each using colorful Alcantara material, were created by Garage Italia Customs using techniques inspired by the French painter Georges Seurat.

The BMW i3 CrossFade and BMW i8 CrossFade each used Alcantara on seats, touch points and interior panels. Both CrossFade models featured "Shocking Blue" Alcantara on door panels, seat trim and bolsters, as well as on headliner and center console. Seat surfaces were dressed in "Misty Gray" Alcantara.

Ferrari's La Ferrari Aperta ("open" in Italian) is a limited edition model that was shown at the Mondial de l'Automobile with an instrument panel and gauge cluster accented by Alcantara. The car also had Formula One race-inspired seats with red Alcantara accents. Door panels, console and steering wheel all used Alcantara for added grip, wear resistance and comfort.

Alcantara also appeared on several Porsche models at Mondial de l'Automobile, including the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and Cayenne E-Hybrid.

Combining performance with luxury, the 462-horsepower Panamera 4 E-Hybrid featured an Alcantara headliner and seating. And Porsche's Cayenne E-Hybrid also was shown with Alcantara seating surfaces.

Alcantara was shown on a variety of other cars not commonly found in the U.S. as well. The Peugeot 3008 and 5008 target upscale buyers in Europe's five- and seven-seat compact SUV segment. Both vehicles at the Paris show featured Alcantara on their top-of-the-line models.

Skoda, a member of the Volkswagen Group, introduced its Skoda Kodiaq in Paris with seating covered in a pale stone-beige shade of Alcantara. The color was prepared specially for the Skoda SUV by Alcantara's stylists.

SEAT's Ateca Experience had seats with burnt orange Alcantara material to compliment the vehicle's "blazing orange" exterior treatment. Renault's Trezor Concept also had a cockpit dressed in red Alcantara.
