Themed "Unleashing the Power of Digital: A New World for HR," IMPACT 2017 will focus on the ways HR is responding to massive disruptions caused by new technologies, an explosion in analytics and artificial intelligence, and changing definitions of work, workforces and worker expectations. It will also look at how all of these changes are driving fundamental changes to the way leaders manage, guide and operate their organizations. HR, talent and learning executives who want to share their strategic insights and innovative solutions should submit a topic for a presentation, case study, panel or interactive workshop. The deadline for submitting speaker proposals is Dec. 16, 2016.

"Organizational design and employee engagement remain the top challenges facing business leaders today," said Josh Bersin, principal and founder, Bersin by Deloitte, Deloitte Consulting LLP. "To be able to meet these challenges, organizations are turning to 'digital HR,' which uses design thinking, behavioral economics and social, mobile, analytics and cloud technologies to reinvent and help improve the employee experience. The goal is to help all employees – from new hires to senior leaders – grow more productive, customer-centric and collaborative in ways that generate better business outcomes."

David Mallon, head of research, Bersin by Deloitte, Deloitte Consulting LLP, agrees that the goal is to create agile, digital organizations with more excited, engaged and empowered employees.

"Our research shows that HR's task is to balance the tension between creative disruption and efficiency," said Mallon. "Cloud-based and app-driven, business, operating and customer models are profoundly different from prior models. They focus on team-centric performance, rapid talent mobility and continuous learning for employees. The models also address business agility and pushing to deliver products faster in a more iterative way. So the real future of work is about redesigning jobs, work, and organizations so that the 'people side' of work has even more importance and focus. Leaders and managers should think hard every day about what they can do to make their employees more productive and rewarded at work."

By "Unleashing the Power of Digital," IMPACT 2017 will highlight the ways HR, talent and learning leaders are reinventing nearly every aspect of HR, talent and learning. For example:

  • Digital HR: We'll also look at the technologies that enable the transition from traditional notions of HR to an agile, networked and outward-facing organization. We will showcase a new High-Impact Human Resources Study and Maturity Model.
  • A new approach to learning and development: We will share a new maturity model and framework for thinking about how organizations develop their people. One aspect of this is "invisible learning and development." This means less of a focus on a course as the building block of learning and more focus on learning as intrinsic to the work itself.
  • People analytics: We will unveil a new people analytics maturity model. We'll also discuss ways analytics drives value for the business, making it a crucial skill for HR professionals.
