Cell-Ess used as a feed consistently improves protein titer by 20-50%% compared to control in various cell lines and media schemes. The increase is observed in glass shake flasks and single-use Wave BioreactorsTM that were scalable to 10,000 liters. In a new video, Essential Pharmaceuticals CEO Allan Weber and CSO Dr. Adam Elhofy discuss why Cell-Ess was invented, what makes it different from traditional media supplements and feeds, and the impact on bioproduction productivity, efficiency and cost management.

"Cell-Ess is different because it can be used with any media platform," says Dr. Elhofy. "Most supplements and feeds must be used with their coordinating base media. Cell-Ess is unique because it can be utilized across all commercially-available media platforms as well as unique platforms that companies have developed for their own systems."

"Cell-Ess utilizes a patent-pending lipid delivery mechanism that allows free fatty acids and cholesterol to be taken up by the cell," says Allan. "By providing lipids to the cells, Cell-Ess helps stabilize cell membranes and improve protein synthesis, allowing each cell to increase monoclonal antibody production. Unlike other products, the novel delivery method utilized by Cell-Ess limits free fatty acids and cholesterol from oxidation, degrading, and sticking to bioproduction vessel walls."

During the Summit, Dr. Elhofy will be presenting his talk "Increasing Protein Production with Novel Cell-Ess Supplement" during Stream 1 on Thursday, August 18th at 9:00 am in Harbor Room 1. He will be presenting his poster #B14 during Session 1B Bioproduction: Scale, Bioreactors & Disposables on Wednesday, August 17th and Thursday, August 18th.
