Fujitsu Expands Gold Partnership with Cisco Systems in North America
Strengthened alliance set to transform in-store mobility and engagement for retailers, creates one-stop-shop for staging, installation and support for Retail IT solutions

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Fujitsu today announced the expansion of its Gold Partnership with Cisco Systems, a leading global IT company with market-dominant computing and data transport solutions. This strengthened North America partnership builds upon the collective retail solutions currently available through Fujitsu and is set to revolutionize how retailers improve their bottom line through increased mobility and customer engagement. Cisco and Fujitsu will provide demonstrations of the associated solutions in the Fujitsu booth (#3805) at the National Retail Federation (NRF) BIG Show on January 17-20, 2016, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

This expanded partnership enables Fujitsu Americas to resell and support:

  • Cisco's Connected Mobile Experiences wireless infrastructure - Connected Mobile Experiences provides easy-to-use templates to create captive portals for guest Wi-Fi. When customers connect to the network, retailers can use loyalty applications and analytic insights to more effectively engage them.
  • Cisco's Unified Retail Platform (URP), an entire retail store can be run from a single computing and communication solution. From a combined single server and router, URP can support:
    • Mobility services
    • PCI compliance
    • Point of sale (POS) and back-office services
    • Analytics, digital media and content caching

URP is especially designed to support diverse store locations, scalable computing requirements and flexible WAN/LAN infrastructure for any new permanent store setups or "pop-up" shop environments.
  • Digital Media Suite - Cisco Digital Media Suite extends digital media to new applications for real-time and on-demand communications with flexible digital media creation, management and publishing of content in various formats to multiple devices.

Fujitsu will begin reselling, distributing and supporting these innovative Cisco solutions to retailers throughout North America. In so doing, retailers will be empowered to transform their stores through mobility solutions, services and rich-content digital media to maximize in-store customer engagement, retention and sales.

"We are excited to broaden our relationship with Fujitsu Americas within the retail industry. Through this alliance, we will be expanding the sales reach and support of Cisco's Connected Mobile Experiences," said Ed Jimenez, Retail and Hospitality Practice Director at Cisco. "With Fujitsu, Cisco is gaining a new and powerful Retail IT hardware, software and services partner who shares a wide visibility into larger, global retail organizations."

By purchasing Cisco solutions directly through Fujitsu, retailers are given the advantage of having a "one-stop-shop" vendor for staging, installation and ongoing support. Fujitsu Service Desk and Field Engineering teams will also provide its customers with Cisco-certified support throughout the United States and Canada.

"To compete in today's digital enterprise, retailers need the most current and advanced in-store computing and data transport infrastructure available from Cisco, delivered and supported by Fujitsu. Together we can help retailers attract and retain consumers as these retailers digitally transform their stores," shared Jimenez.

Cisco and Fujitsu have a long heritage of collaboration. Since 2004, when Cisco and Fujitsu first announced their strategic alliance, they have worked together to co-develop, brand and deliver a range of award-winning computing and routing solutions across North America.

"The expansion of Information Communications Technology is accelerating at a remarkable rate. As leaders in the field, Cisco and Fujitsu will join forces to help retailers transform their stores from a place to conduct simple transactions into a place that offers a complete and immersive digital experience," said Marc Janssens, executive vice president and head of Retail at Fujitsu America, Inc. "Combining groundbreaking technologies like Cisco's hyper location solution with Fujitsu Retail Engagement Analytics, retailers will gain a much deeper insight into customer shopping behavior as well as their staff's sales productivity and merchandising effectiveness across each and every store. In terms of our collaboration with Cisco for retail, this truly is just the beginning," added Janssens.
