The three-day international event attracted nearly 4,000 trade visitors from Hungary, Germany, Indonesia, Malawi, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Singapore, the United States, Vietnam, mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The trade visitors from mainland China came from 27 different provinces, cities and municipalities.

There were several highlights at the show providing comprehensive services and a rewarding experience for both exhibitors and buyers.

  • Highlight One - Business Matching

A total of 20 business-matching sessions were organized over two days, providing an effective and efficient business platform for exchange and communication between participating exhibitors and buyers.

Exhibitors' Comments:

"The Business Matching worked well for us as a company from Taiwan to meet potential end users in mainland China, and will be helpful to our establishing more sales channels in China," said Mr. Wu Zhongzei, Project Manager, Livewire Asia Pacific Co., Ltd.

"As an engineering contractor we have benefited from this exhibition, especially after having met with the Brazilian buyers in the Business Matching, from whom we learned about several current and future projects in Brazil. We are satisfied with the show," said Mr. Jin Jian Deputy Department, Vice-Manager of Norinco International Cooperation Ltd.

"From this exhibition, we are very happy to know that the rolling stock manufacturers in China are interested in our products. We hope to understand the preferential policies for imported products versus producing locally in China," said Li Nannan, general affairs of VC Tech Co., Ltd.

Buyers' Comments

"This exhibition is excellent and well organized, especially the distinctive opening ceremony and constructive Business Matching session. I attended four of them, and participated in the post-show visit with a Chinese enterprise. I have benefited a lot," said Mr. Jean C. Pejo, CEO of the Latin American Railway Association (ALAF) (Brazil).

"I thank the organizer for providing this excellent platform for me to meet with Chinese rail and transit enterprises in person. I am very pleased with the entire arrangement, and hope my participation in the Business Matching would produce good results," said Ms. Marziah Manap, Vice Chief Executive of Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB).

"I have benefited greatly from this event. We came to understand the development of the exhibitor, its plans to access the Chinese market, and their intention to seek Chinese business cooperation partners. This is also our objective in attending this event. Thanks to the exhibition for providing us this platform," said Mr. Liu Hairui, Senior Manager in the strategy development department of Chinese Railway Materials Industry Group Co., Ltd.

"This event encompasses the characters of rail and transit, and is professionally-focused, especially the Business-matching, which is rare in other domestic rail exhibitions. This will benefit the development of the exhibition, and the exhibitors' product and market development," said Mr. Zhang Zitai, Deputy Chief Construction Manager of MTR Corporation (Shenzhen) Limited.

  • Highlight Two - CRTEC Conference

A high-level forum dedicated to the rail and transit industries was held alongside CRTEC on Day One focusing on the "Belt and Road" initiative. The conference brought together innovative thinkers and industry gurus to share their vision and speak on topical issues including:

    • Potentials and Opportunities Faced by Chinese Rail and Transportation Enterprises under the "Belt and Road" Initiative
    • Financial Support from the Policy Bank to Promote Rail Transportation Development
    • Challenges and Opportunities of High Speed Rail Cross Boundary Tunnel Construction
    • Some Thinking on the Plan and Design of Urban Rail Transit in China
    • Overview of Super Large Diameter Shield Tunnel Boring Engineering Technology
    • Fine Management of BIM Rail Transit

  • Highlight Three - Post-show Visit

Mr. Jean C. Pejo, CEO of the Latin American Railway Association (ALAF), was hosted to a post-show visit of the Beijing National Railway Research & Design Institute of the Signal & Communication Group Co., Ltd. (CRSC). The visit included the CRSC headquarters building, the CTCS-3 high-speed train's operation control system laboratory in the CRSC Industry Park, and the Beijing Traffic Control Centre.

During his tour, CRSC staff introduced the development history, laboratory situation, future development and current projects of CRSC. Mr. Pejo was invited to view the operations of the 18 lines of the Beijing Metro. He was amazed at the speed of the construction of the Beijing Metro, which is extending at an average of about 45 kilometers a year. He appreciated the talents, resource integration and the comprehensive emergency response mechanism of the CRSC's command centre. He enquired in detail about CRSC's CBTC system and the railroad grade crossing system. Having been introduced to the CBTC system employed on Line 8 of the Beijing Metro by a CRSC engineer, he planned upon his return to Brazil to obtain more technical details so as to provide suggestions and information to the Brazilian market.

Mr. Wen Guang, from the international department of CRSC, said: "We fully support this format of exhibition combined with post-show site visits. We hope that the organizer would invite more foreign guests to visit our company and to learn about CRSC. The visit of the Brazilian guest has facilitated our understanding of the Brazilian market and strengthened our relationship."

"The Brazilian guest acquired a direct, comprehensive understanding of the development of the Chinese rail and transit industry from the post-show visit, while CRSC acquired a deep understanding of the demand and situation of the Brazilian market. It has established a strong foundation for Chinese and Brazilian rail enterprises to discuss deep level of cooperation in the future," Mr. Wen added.

CRTEC successfully concluded with the strong support of the industry. As said by Mr. Michael Duck, Executive Vice President of UBM Asia Ltd: "Our objective as the organizer of CRTEC is to create a dedicated international business platform for industry players to meet face-to-face, exchange knowledge and experiences, share cutting-edge technology and solutions, strengthen connections with existing business partners, and uncover potential business partners and opportunities."

International, professional and well-organized, the first edition of the China Railway + Transit Exhibition and Conference (CRTEC) was appreciated by participants and attendees. We look forward to seeing you again in Shanghai 2016!
