An acclaimed author, food writer and broadcaster, Simon Majumdar is best known for his work on The Food Network. As a Cutthroat Kitchen judge, he earned the reputation as the network's toughest critic, and has also become a regular on many other Food Network shows including Beat Bobby Flay, The Next Iron Chef, Iron Chef America and The Best Thing I Ever Ate. Simon was also an expert commentator on the Nat Geo show, EAT: The Story of Food, appearing on all six episodes.

Simon has truly lived out his personal motto, "Go everywhere, eat everything." He has experienced cuisine in all 50 states and more than 70 countries. He regularly shares his unique story and encyclopedic knowledge of food and its history in his "This Month In Food" column for Askmen.com and through three bestselling food and travel memoirs: Eat My Globe, Eating for Britain, and most recently, Fed White & Blue: Finding America with My Fork.

"Simon has seen so many corners of the world, cataloging the unique cultural and culinary traditions he's experienced to share with catering professionals and aspiring foodies alike," said Catersource and Event Solutions Brand Director Ron Bigley. "CSES2016 is lucky to host such an accomplished and well-traveled food writer and personality from one of our industry's favorite networks."

Simon's CSES2016 featured session will take place March 15 at The Mirage. He'll share his journey from a successful publishing career in the United Kingdom, to adopting an appreciation for the varied regional cuisines of the United States, his current home--and all his global travels in between. Caterers will take away inspiration for international recipes as Simon leads an interactive overview of the top ten catering-friendly food trends for 2016, including new cuisines, ingredients, service styles, and delivery systems.

Simon will also host a culinary demonstration at the Tradeshow on March 15 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Simon will prepare two catering-friendly dishes live--one inspired by his international travels and one from his ventures across different regions of the United States. The stage will be amidst the Tradeshow's sprawling marketplace of the industry's leading products and technologies for catering and event planning professionals. Featuring more than 400 suppliers, networking, and learning opportunities, the Tradeshow is open March 15 and 16 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Simon joins two additional featured Conference speakers, specifically chosen to ignite passion and inspire the industry, as well as introduce new ways to interact and understand clients:

  • Doug Lipp, former head of training, Disney University
  • David Beahm, founder and president, David Beahm Experiences
