"As part of our longstanding commitment to the communications technology ecosystem, we have an incredible lineup of speakers, topics and courses that address pressing business challenges," said Stacey Orlick, Director of Community and Conference Content. "We continue to listen to the needs of our audience to create a robust program that serves the diverse needs of industry professionals from government, military and public safety to utility, transportation and business enterprise."

The IWCE conference program is comprised of workshops, short courses and training providing the foundation for technology, operations, engineering and governance for communications technology networks, systems and services.

IWCE's College of Technology provides both introductory courses and technical workshops for any skill level or background. From fundamentals to in-depth training the workshops are presented in half-day or full-day formats on March 21, 22 and 25 in addition to 45 minute Power Sessions on March 21 and 22 focusing on specific case studies and overviews.

Short Courses offer a flexible way to take part in the conference program while attending the exhibit hall on March 23 and 24, as well as additional Short Courses on March 25. Information on infrastructure, system planning, next-generation networks, broadband, hardware, applications, spectrum optimization and interoperability are covered as well as special sessions for specific attendee groups, and regulatory updates from leading associations.  Short Courses tracks are FirstNet, Next-Generation Communications, Spectrum and Signal Optimization, Cybersecurity, Planning and Preparation, as well as dedicated industry session tracks for public safety, enterprise and critical infrastructure.

In addition, a Special Training class will be offered on the topic of "Radio Technologies for Connecting the Internet of Things" on March 21 and 22.

The opening keynote will be presented by Curtis Levinson, Cybersecurity Advisor to NATO on March 23 at 9:00 a.m. He will discuss threats to the critical infrastructure, including power grids and communications systems across the globe and the adversaries that are targeting the U.S. with cyber attacks. He will also outline specific cybersecurity considerations for the communications-technology industry and provide practical actionable remediation—policies, procedures and technology—that can be implemented right now to help protect your valuable enterprise data and networks.

Donny Jackson, Editor, IWCE's Urgent Communications will moderate the general session, "Operating Parallel Networks – Managing LMR and LTE Simultaneously," on March 24 at 8:30 a.m. A panel, including Pat Mallon of LA-RICS and Charles Werner of Charlottesville, will examine what features broadband provides for non-critical and mission-critical voice usage, as well as for data usage and enabling interoperability between the two types of communications systems.

Government and association partners will present their latest initiatives at Town Hall Meetings. Participating organizations include DHS's Science and Technology Directorate, DHS's Office of Emergency Communications, NIST, NTIA, NPSTC and ETA.

Speed Networking offers an opportunity for attendees to quickly connect one-on-one with each other and is held twice a day on March 21 and 22. Each round lasts 2-3 minutes for participants to exchange contact information and discuss why they are at IWCE.

IWCE will also be co-located with ETA International's Education Forum and IWCE's Network Infrastructure Forum.

  • ETA International's Education Forum offers training in popular technology areas related to ETA certification, including Fiber 1-2-3, Line and Antenna Sweep, Interference Hunting, Distributed Antenna Systems, RFID, R56 and MCEI. For additional information, click here.
