CNS Summit Announces Initial Speakers for 10th Anniversary: Leaders Driving the Future of Life Sciences

BOCA RATON, Fla., May 14, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- CNS Summit today announced the first set of speakers for the 10th Anniversary meeting, leading off with five leaders who are impacting the intersection of life sciences and technology:

Dr. Amy Abernethy has been named Principal Deputy Commissioner for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This is the highest position at the FDA that is not a political appointment and cuts across all areas of the agency's remit, overseeing initiatives across offices that oversee drugs, medical devices, tobacco and food regulation.
− Dr. Jessica Mega, Chief Medical Officer at Verily (Google's Medical Moonshot company), oversees all Verily partnerships and projects, and identifies new health problems Verily should be tackling.
− Dr. Mona Siddiqui is the Chief Data Officer at the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) where she is responsible for building and implementing an enterprise-wide data management strategy including a governance structure for all HHS data, streamlined data use agreements and an analytics strategy for the federal government's HHS operations and enables evidence based decision making.
− Dr. Dina Katabi directs MIT's Center for Wireless Networks and Mobile Computing. Dr. Katabi developed wireless devices that use machine learning to sense people through walls and measure a person's breathing, heart rate, and sleep quality using wireless signals, without any sensor on the person's body – a technology she demonstrated at the White House for President Obama.
− Ms. Stephanie Bova is the Global Head Digital Alliances & Ventures for Takeda and Head of Global Operations for Takeda's Digital Accelerator program. She is an adviser to a number of startups in the healthcare field.

Amir Kalali, MD, Chairman and Chief Curator of the CNS Summit said: "These are among the most impactful, forward-thinking leaders shaping the industry today.  We are excited for them to join us and address some of the most pressing issues in life sciences, including the evolving regulatory environment, the broad impact of new technologies, the cultural transformation needed, and the future of work. These themes are critical for all companies in the life science ecosystem." Dr Kalali also noted, "For our 10th Anniversary we will be assessing the last 10 years in the life sciences and driving the collaborations that will shape the next 10 years."
