Learn How to Fix Password Problems at SANS Charlotte Cyber Security Training Event
Security Expert Keith Palmgren will Detail How to Create Passwords that are Easier to Remember and Significantly Stronger

BETHESDA, Md., April 11, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- SANS Institute, the global leader in cyber security training and certifications, today announced the agenda for SANS Charlotte 2019 (#SANSCharlotte) taking place July 8-13 in North Carolina. Courses and evening talks will teach security professionals new skills to better anticipate security risks and quickly mitigate them. Included on the agenda is a talk by SANS Senior instructor and course author Keith Palmgren (@kpalmgren) entitled, "Everything You Ever Learned About Passwords is Wrong".

According to Palmgren, "There are approximately one million articles on the Internet today telling you how to do passwords properly. Unfortunately, most of them are based on thinking that made perfect sense in 1975. But it is not 1975, it is 2019 and the hacker community has innovated their password attacks well beyond the 1975 point. Yet, for some reason, we keep giving the same tired 1975 advice on passwords and that does not work. Join me in Charlotte to find out why 'Everything You Ever Learned About Passwords is Wrong', and more importantly, how to fix it for the future."

In addition to his evening talk, Palmgren will teach his SEC301: Introduction to Cyber Security course. Palmgren created this course for students with a basic knowledge of computers and technology but no prior cyber security experience. This is the ideal course for those wanting to make a career change to take advantage of the job opportunities in cyber security.

SANS Charlotte 2019 offers courses for security professionals at every skill level. Course topics include cyber defense, ethical hacking, penetration testing, critical security controls and ICS security. The skills learned during SANS hands-on immersion training can be implemented the day students return to work.
