ARLINGTON, Va., Jan. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Sleep Foundation (NSF) today unveils a diverse slate of brands, including Philips, Mattress Firm, and Happiest Baby, participating in the first-ever Sleep Show®. The Sleep Show is set for March 8-10, 2019 and is expected to draw thousands to the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston. Leading companies will present their latest products and innovations based on the rapidly-evolving science of sleep, catapulting one of the largest U.S. markets into the future.
"Too many Americans willingly accept poor quality of sleep as a fact of life, but recent years have brought rapid advancements from cooling mattress technologies to innovations in lighting," said David Cloud, CEO of the National Sleep Foundation. "We're thrilled to connect people with the latest solutions from leading brands at the Sleep Show. It's time consumers take advantage of industry advancements to sleep their way to better health and wellbeing."
Top brands at the Sleep Show include Serta, Bed Bath & Beyond, Tempur-Sealy, Dreem, Sleep.Ai, Smart Nora, Timeshifter, 24 Hour Fitness and many more. These industry leaders are expected to unveil products to help people of all ages get a better night of sleep.
"More and more Americans are recognizing the impact of sleep on overall wellbeing, yet often miss a big part of the equation – their bed," said Scott Thaler, chief marketing officer of Mattress Firm. "We have been obsessed with providing everyone the best beds at the best value so they can get a great night's sleep. That is why we are excited about this novel Sleep Show that will address the totality of sleep, and we welcome it coming to our hometown, Houston."
The expo will also feature leading clinical sleep medicine devices for sleep apnea, a condition affecting over 25 million Americans, including Resmed, Respironics, and Fisher & Paykel.
As evidenced by the range of headliner companies, the sleep industry – estimated at $28.6 billion in 2017 – is booming. The expo will be a confluence of consumers and sleep industry innovators, in a hybrid event expected to draw thousands of attendees from the Houston metro area.
As a benefit to the Houston community, the National Sleep Foundation is also programming over 100 talks to help individuals improve their sleep. Research consistently shows that quality sleep has a direct, positive affect on mental, physical and emotional well-being. A majority of American adults (65 percent) think sleep contributes to next-day effectiveness, yet only 10 percent of people prioritize sleep over other aspects of daily living, according to the 2018 Sleep in America® poll.
Tickets will go on sale in February.
