Each year SpiceWorld 2018 brings together thousands of IT pros and hundreds of tech vendors in Austin, Texas for three days of learning, networking and entertainment. This year's conference will be held October 8 – 10 at the Austin Convention Center.

CompTIA's education session – titled "Spiceheads, Don't Become Comfortably Numb; Get to Know Your Cyber Tools" – is set for 10:45 a.m. (Central) on Wednesday, October 10.

CompTIA product managers Stephen Schneiter and Tazneen Kasem will lead the session. They will be joined by Lee McWhorter of McWhorter Technologies, who will demonstrate networking and security tools as part of the presentation.

"We have so many security devices on the network collecting so much information that it can be overwhelming for even the most experienced cybersecurity professional," said Kasem. "We'll look at how information is collected, as well as how to control devices to provide the information specific to the unique needs of each network."

"We'll also explore cybersecurity tools and configurations, including DarkStat, OpenVas, Wireshark and others," Schneiter added.

CompTIA's participation in SpiceWorld 2018 is part of the association's ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the critical importance of understanding network technologies and cybersecurity; to build competencies and skills among cybersecurity professionals around the world; and to attract new candidates into the cybersecurity workforce.

At the heart of these efforts is the CompTIA Cybersecurity Career Pathway, designed to help IT professionals achieve cybersecurity mastery from career beginning to end. To learn more, visit the CompTIA Cybersecurity Career Path Hub.
