Maine-Based Door to Door Doctors Deploys Q2i's OARS Technology to Support Patients Recovering from Opioid Use Disorder

BOSTON, Sept. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Q2i, a provider of technology that improves patient care by enabling better information exchange between patients and their healthcare teams, today announced its Opioid Addiction Recovery Support application (OARS) is being utilized at Door to Door Doctors, a full-service family medical practice in Maine dedicated to providing personalized, high-quality care that includes addiction medicine and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).

OARS comprises a healthcare team portal and a patient mobile application. It improves the success of MAT programs by providing real-time insight, analytics and trend analysis, and improved connection and support between healthcare teams and their patients.

"Opioid addiction is a chronic disease, and treatment is long-term. We believe that medication-assisted recovery based on suboxone, vivitrol, and naltrexone is part of primary care and should be accessible to everybody," said Dr. Cathleen London of Door to Door Doctors. "We invested in OARS because we think it will help us treat more patients more effectively throughout their recovery program, and ultimately reduce overdose incidences and relapses."

Door to Door Doctors is deploying OARS to 1) provide more support to recovery patients; and 2) add patient accountability to treatment plans.

To provide support, Door to Door Doctors uses OARS to distribute articles, worksheets, and questionnaires that provide helpful information for patients; enable peer-based chat sessions and patient journaling; and communicate group meeting and appointment times.

To promote accountability, Door to Door Doctors uses OARS to track and communicate patient test results, appointment attendance, and other elements of the treatment plan.

"We think that improving patient accountability will encourage patients to engage more strongly with their treatment plan, and this in turn will lead to improved outcomes," said Dr. London. "If that proves out, our use of OARS will be a significant contributor to recovery."

OARS will be showcased at the Cape Cod Symposium on Addictive Disorders September 13-16 2018, in Hyannis, MA.
