Dr. Art Langer to Deliver Keynote Address at the American Automobile Association's National CIO Forum

NEW YORK, March 22, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- On March 22, 2018, Dr. Art Langer, Director of Columbia University's Center for Technology Management and founder of the nonprofit Workforce Opportunity Services (WOS), will deliver a keynote speech at the American Automobile Association's (AAA) National CIO Forum in Orlando, Florida. The forum will gather the federation's CIOs—who represent AAA enterprises nationwide—to discuss insights surrounding how chief information officers can drive organizational change and company growth through the use of advanced technology.

During his keynote address, Dr. Langer will discuss how digital disruption will shape the future of the auto industry and why companies like AAA should leverage their CIOs and IT departments to implement strategies so they can better serve their customers. He will explain why it's important to change the current perception we have of CIOs, from simply being service members, to being our strategic partners, as we enter a more digitalized environment.

"In this digital age, it's essential for CIOs to be the drivers of change at organizations. As the IT landscape shifts and the evolution of technology present new challenges for companies, which could potentially cause threats to IT infrastructures, CIOs need to be more forward-thinking and tactical in their approaches," said Dr. Langer. "They bring forth a competitive advantage, especially in the auto industry, as advanced technology can be used to get closer to consumers to understand what they want."

Dr. Langer will also discuss his vision behind WOS, an organization he founded in 2005 with a mission of developing the skills of untapped talent from underserved and veteran communities through partnerships with organizations dedicated to diversifying their workforce. WOS utilizes a scientifically-based model, and recruits, educates, trains, and place high-potential candidates, with leading organizations around the world. Through partnerships with global companies, WOS has successfully placed nearly 1,000 individuals into jobs in the IT industry.
