Previously a biannual event, and now in its 17th year, this will be the first time the conference consolidates to form an annual, industry-wide conference. Excell 2018 will include two separate, focused tracks – one for advisors, and one for their teams – with targeted educational sessions and networking opportunities to help advisors develop effective growth strategies. Breakout sessions, workshops, and general session keynotes will address key challenges and opportunities spanning relevant topics including technology, marketing, fee compression, industry trends, leadership and more.

Recently named one of the "13 Best Conferences for Financial Advisors in 2018" by Nerd's Eye View writer and industry influencer Michael Kitces, Excell 2018 is expected to draw nearly 1,000 attendees, collectively overseeing $100B in AUM. In addition, this year's event will feature several powerhouse keynotes from a wide array of industries, including:

  • Arianna Huffington, founder of The Huffington Post; and founder and CEO of Thrive Global. Ms. Huffington will explore the emergence of sleep deprivation as a global epidemic, focusing specifically on how it impacts advisors as business owners. Through personal stories and science-backed tips, she'll discuss how our increasingly fast-paced and hyper-connected world is putting our performance, relationships, and health at risk.
  • Marc Randolph, first CEO and co-founder of digital disruptor Netflix. He'll share his lessons learned in creating a Fortune 500 company, now regularly ranked among the world's most admired, and detail the process of how an idea becomes reality to help advisors and their teams embrace innovative thinking.
  • Howard A. Tullman, former CEO of startup hub 1871, and general managing partner for venture capital firms Chicago High Tech Investment Partners and G2T3V. Serial entrepreneur Tullman will lead a lively discussion on how rapid technological advancements are shaping human behavior. Ron Carson, CEO and founder of Carson Group, will join the conversation by explaining how advisors can apply this insight to their business.
  • David Goggins, a former Navy SEAL who now serves as a motivational speaker and is widely considered one of the greatest endurance athletes in the world. Goggins will reflect on his life's journey to summarize what it has taught him about personal accountability and the power of sheer resolve.

"We're proud of the collaborative and invigorating environment we've fostered at Excell over the years and are excited to take the next step in making this a flagship event for advisors of all sizes and affiliations," said Ron Carson, CEO and founder of Carson Group. "Advisors find so much value from this sense of community we've built – myself included – and we want to share it with the entire profession, because we all have something to learn about being better at what we do."

Laura Pierson, managing partner of Carson Group, added: "For years, Excell conferences have been a cornerstone of what we stand for and believe in: bringing together a passionate community of driven advisors who want to better themselves and their business. We spend months of time, energy and effort crafting a high-caliber lineup of sessions and speakers that provide both inspiration and tangible ideas to advisors and their teams. When you consider the unique lens we have in working with thousands of the country's top advisors, there's nothing else quite like it."

Other highlights at this year's conference will include a Women in Wealth Summit, specifically for female advisors; an exclusive executive session for C-suite industry thought leaders; an intriguing presentation on blockchain and how advisors can prepare for its influence on their business; and an Industry Powerhouse Panel featuring several high-profile executive leaders. Grammy award-winning rock band Blues Traveler will also take the stage for the invitation-only concert on opening night.
