DentaQuest Foundation Grantees and Partners Come Together at Fifth Annual Oral Health 2020 National Network Gathering
Convening brings together 400 stakeholders as one unified voice for oral health equity

BOSTON, Oct. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- From October 25-27, the DentaQuest Foundation is hosting the fifth annual Oral Health 2020 National Network Gathering in Atlanta, Georgia. This year's meeting, expected to draw close to 400 attendees from across the country, will focus on building the capacity of the nation's first oral health network and mobilizing its collective strength for systems and policy change.

The theme of this year's convening, "A Unified Voice: Messaging to Mobilizing," focuses on aligning the network's efforts around communications and messaging. This includes conversations on the historical factors that have contributed to the current oral health discourse, strategies for reframing communications to improve the public perception of oral health, and a discussion on facilitating more productive conversations around difficult topics, like racism and equity.

"It is awe-inspiring to see this many advocates and partners come together in support of our common cause of improving oral health," said Mike Monopoli, Executive Director of the DentaQuest Foundation. "The time has come for the network to speak out, with a unified voice, for the right of all people to be healthy."

The convening will welcome such notable speakers as Mary Otto, journalist and author of Teeth: The Story of Beauty, Inequality, and the Struggle for Oral Health America, and Tom Ashbrook, host of NPR's "On Point" radio show. Dr. Camara Jones, senior fellow at Morehouse School of Medicine and noted health equity expert, will lead a session on understanding the roots and cost of structural racism, and how it impacts health and health equity.
