Ortho Clinical Diagnostics to Present Data on Automation in Immunohematology and Demonstrate Its Entire Transfusion Medicine Portfolio at the 2017 AABB Annual Meeting
Industry Workshop to Address Clinical Outcomes of Titration Studies Using ID-MTS™ Gel Test Method

RARITAN, N.J., Oct. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ortho Clinical Diagnostics (Ortho), a global leader of in vitro diagnostics, today announced it will present new scientific research on automation in immunohematology, or pre-transfusion compatibility testing, at the 2017 AABB Annual Meeting. For the first time at AABB, the company will showcase its entire transfusion medicine portfolio in its booth (No. 1635). Ortho will also host an industry workshop regarding standardization of the titration process and a customer event focused on emergency preparedness and military readiness featuring keynote speeches by leaders representing the Military's Armed Services Blood Program. The conference will be held October 7-10 at the San Diego Convention Center.

The company will conduct an industry workshop on Monday, October 9 at 7:00 a.m., entitled, "Standardization and Validation of Titrations in Perinatal Clinical Situations". Speakers at this workshop will address clinical outcomes associated with performing titration studies using the ID-MTS™ Gel Test method, process improvements that can be realized through standardization of the titration process, and best practices for successful process implementation in the transfusion service laboratory. Presenters include Laura L.W. Cooling, MD, MS, Associate Professor and Associate Director, Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine Director, Cell Therapy Laboratory, Department of Pathology at the University of Michigan Medical School; Robert Witkowski, PhD, Principal Scientist, Research and Development at Ortho Clinical Diagnostics; and Christina Gendron, MLS (ASCP), Senior Medical Technologist, Transfusion Service at Florida Hospital.
