NALIP HOSTS 18TH ANNUAL MEDIA SUMMIT honoring Zoe Saldana, Tony Revolori at the Latino Media Awards and Gala

LOS ANGELES, June 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2017 NALIP Media Summit is the largest gathering of Latinos in media nationwide, and will take place at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood on June 22-25. The National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) is celebrating its 18th Media Summit, which focuses on advancing the Latino community throughout media.

Followed by an Emerging Content Creators Workshop, Latino Lens Showcase and late-night Launch Mixer on Thursday, June 22, the keynote luncheon on Friday, June 23 will feature a conversation with David Levine, co-head of drama for HBO Programming who will share his insights on greenlighting a project.

The four-day schedule of panels, workshops, screenings and showcases, highlights include:

  • Diverse Women in Media Initiative – Beginning with the Digital Trailblazer Award given to Venezuelan-born Eleonora "Lele" Pons, the session segues into a Signature Conversation with the women behind the new HBO series Room 104: Executive producer Xan Aranda, actress Melonie Diaz and EVP of HBO Programming Amy Gravitt, moderated by Kelly Edwards and followed by an evening mixer.
  • Inside the Sundance Labs With Miguel Arteta and John Lopez – Sundance will present a panel bringing together Miguel Arteta and John Lopez to share insights about their own experiences as Screenwriters, Directors, and Episodic Labs.
  • Animation Master Class – Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios will host a session with Moana producer Osnat Shurer, Cars 3 co-producer Andrea Warren and Coco co-director/screenwriter Adrian Molina, who will discuss the specifics of making animated features.

This year the Latino Media Awards and Gala will take place on Saturday, June 24, which will honor Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy) with the Outstanding Achievement Award. The annual Lupe Award will be given to Guatemalan-American actor Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel) next seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
