CLEVELAND, May 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- MIM Software Inc., a provider of imaging solutions in the fields of radiation oncology, radiology, and nuclear medicine, announced today it will showcase bkFusion™, a solution for targeted biopsy and procedural guidance for prostate cancer, at the 112th American Urological Association (AUA) Annual Meeting, May 12–16 in Boston. bkFusion is the latest innovation developed by MIM Software in collaboration with BK Ultrasound, powered by Analogic Corporation. The launch of this solution will mark the first MRI-to-ultrasound fusion solution fully integrated into a premium ultrasound system for use by clinicians in both hospital and office settings.
bkFusion benefits from MIM Software's 17 years of research in developing industry-leading multi-modality image fusion capabilities. In creating bkFusion, MIM Software has leveraged their patented ReSlicer™ and Predictive Fusion™ technologies. Predictive Fusion "reslices" and pre-aligns the MRI images to correspond to the prostate's orientation at the time of the ultrasound-guided procedure. This advancement in MRI-to-ultrasound fusion assists the practitioner in achieving rapid and more accurate real-time information, which is necessary for biopsy, HIFU, cryotherapy, brachytherapy, IRE, and other targeted procedures. bkFusion is an integrated solution on the bk3000 ultrasound system providing urologists with both an easy workflow and a small footprint. The system communicates efficiently with radiology departments, accessing the MRI images via PACS or MIMcloud™, which enables secure data transfer.
"We are excited to partner with BK Ultrasound to bring this innovation to urology," said Jon Piper, Vice President of Research and Development of MIM Software. "bkFusion empowers MR imaging in all urology settings and delivers the patient-centered clinical benefits of targeted biopsy. Our collaborative mission is to provide technology that enhances care for the greatest number of patients possible. bkFusion is practical to implement in centers of any size and, in conjunction with our advanced reporting and segmentation products for radiology, will enable efficient utilization of this emerging diagnostic standard."
MIM will continue to develop and distribute MIM Symphony Dx™, its advanced mpMRI prostate visualization and analysis software for radiologists, with industry-leading prostate MRI review, linking, contouring, and reporting capabilities. MIM Symphony Dx also includes powerful tools for quantitative longitudinal analysis in the active surveillance population. MIM Symphony Dx and bkFusion share a common platform which allows seamless communication either directly, via MIMcloud, or through external drives.
MIM Software will be exhibiting at AUA booth 740. BK Ultrasound will be showing bkFusion at booth 916.
