March Conference Inspires PreK-2 NE Educators to Improve Success for All Students

MANCHESTER, N.H. and PETERBOROUGH, N.H., March 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Every student deserves equitable access to effective instruction every day they are in school. An upcoming SDE conference will help New England early childhood educators rise to this challenge by providing learner-centered instruction that puts students first. The 2017 New England PreK–2 Conference, will be held March 27–28, 2017, in Manchester, NH.

"As the educational landscape evolves, teachers are looking for highly focused strategies that enable them to meet the unique educational needs of their students. In response, we've built this conference around narrowed grade-bands that deliver just the content they need," Kymra Kurinskas, SDE program developer, said.

This year's line-up of PreK–2 presenters is chock full of fresh faces, including Christina DeCarbo, Pat Pavelka, Reagan Tunstall, and Janiel Wagstaff. Each is an early childhood expert who knows what it takes to increase an educator's standards of professional practice. In addition, two powerful keynotes will be presented by author and behavior expert Dan St. Romain and author and DI, technology, and engagement expert Dedra Stafford.

Throughout the two days, attendees will get up-to-date on the latest and most effective ways to improve student success. According to Kurinskas, "they'll gain a whole new perspective on providing research-based instruction in core content areas of reading, writing, and math. They'll delve into project- and brain-based learning and how to promote both through technology and STEM. They'll also investigate new and better ways to manage, assess, and motivate a diverse group of learners."

Sessions will cover the "must haves" for every teacher, such as classroom management, planning and preparation, increasing content knowledge, and behavior and time management. Also sprinkled in will be cutting-edge topics like growth mindset, mindfulness and gratitude, play-based learning, and more.

With content specifically targeted to address each grade level more meaningfully, this year's conference will shape the performance and improve the classroom impact of teachers for years to come. "Spirits will be lifted as attendees sharpen their focus and get a well-deserved infusion of motivation. Without a doubt, they'll return to their classrooms fully prepared to efficiently and effectively deliver content that results in success for all," Kurinskas said.
