Tickets For The Second Annual New York R Conference Sell Out; Leading Data Scientists from Airbnb, AT&T, Columbia University, eBay, Etsy, News Corp, and Tamr to Present
Gathering the world's top R enthusiasts and data scientists to explore, share, and inspire ideas

NEW YORK, April 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Work-Bench, a New York City enterprise technology venture capital fund, is excited to announce that tickets for the second annual New York R Conference have sold out. Gathering the world's top R enthusiasts and data scientists to explore, share, and inspire ideas, the conference is taking place on Friday, April 8, and Saturday, April 9, at Work-Bench. Over 250 data scientists from technology startups, financial institutions, and academia will be attending.

Co-organized by Lander Analytics, a prominent data science firm that specializes in statistical consulting and training services, the New York R Conference was created to encourage collaboration and foster shared learning within the data science community. The conference will take place over the course of two days and feature prominent speakers within the R community. While focused on R, a number of expert speakers will also speak on Python, Julia, and database architecture.

Last year's sold out conference proved so popular, that not only did ticket sales increase dramatically this year, but so did the number of people wishing to speak. Jared P. Lander, Chief Data Scientist at Lander Analytics and leader of the New York R Meetup said, "We had so many interested presenters that we had to extend the schedule both days just to accommodate all of these fantastic data scientists. It is really a world-class group of speakers."

According to Jessica Lin, Community Director at Work-Bench, "We are proud to support a conference for data scientists organized by a community of data scientists. It is rare to see a conference with such a diverse range of speakers, from technology and academia, to healthcare and open-source software. The New York R Conference continues to showcase the cutting-edge advances being made in the data science ecosystem here in New York City."

Confirmed speakers include J.J. Allaire (Founder, RStudio), Drew Conway (CEO, Alluvium), Andrew Gelman (Statistics Professor, Columbia University), Elena Grewal (Data Science Manager, Airbnb), Adi Haviv (Applied Research Manager, eBay), Josh Katz (Graphics Editor, The New York Times), Jared P. Lander (Author, R for Everyone), Hilary Parker (Senior Data Analyst, Etsy), Rachel Schutt (Chief Data Scientist, News Corp), and many more.

Topics include a statistical analysis of the current political environment, an assessment of the New York City transit system, improving data interoperability for Python and R, scalable prediction services, time-varying networks, the NCAA basketball tournament, data visualization, and the ethos of open source software.
