SANS to Address Data Theft in the 21st Century at Security East 2016 Training Event
Bonus Evening Discussions Spotlight the Need for Continuous Monitoring, Prioritizing Defenses and Much More

BETHESDA, Md., Nov. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SANS, the global leader in information security training, today announced the keynote address for the SANS Security East 2016 training event in New Orleans, LA taking place January 25 – 30. Cyber security expert and keynote speaker, Mike Poor, will discuss data theft in the 21st century. Bonus evening discussions will complement the keynote by offering attendees actionable steps they can take to prevent or minimize damage from an intrusion.

"Dan Geer once said that 'everyone on the Internet is between 1 and 150ms from every psychopath on the planet'. That pretty much sums it up. The Internet has been a game changer, a major disruptor in every industry it touches including crime," stated Poor. "In this keynote, we will look at breach statistics, and analyze the flaws exploited by adversaries to quickly steal millions of costumer records. What can we do to avoid common analysis mistakes?  Is there a baud to fraud ratio? Find out the answers to these questions and more."

SANS Security East 2016 will feature hands-on immersion style security training courses taught by real-world practitioners. Web App Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking, ICS Active Defense and Incident Response, Intrusion Detection In-Depth are just some of the courses being offered. Attendees also have the opportunity to participate in number of bonus evening discussions covering such topics as using an Open Source threat model for prioritized defense, why continuous monitoring is needed, and card fraud. A NetWars Tournament will take place the evenings of Jan 28-29.
