Leader in Education Keynotes National Teacher Appreciation Event
Tom Murray to kick off the 2019 Odysseyware Educator Impact Awards

CHANDLER, Ariz., Feb. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Tom Murray, Director of Innovation for Future Ready Schools, will give the keynote address at the 2019 Odysseyware Educator Impact Awards. Hosted by Odysseyware®, a leading provider of customizable online digital curriculum for K-12 education, the Odysseyware Educator Impact Awards will take place on June 24, 2019 aboard the beautiful and legendary Moshulu in Philadelphia.

The Odysseyware Educator Impact Awards [https://www.odysseyware.com/ed-impact-awards] will recognize leading educators from across the nation who use Odysseyware programs in creative and beneficial ways to inspire students to reach their greatest potential. New categories this year, reflective of the changing education landscape, include "Virtual Instruction Teacher" and "Odysseyware® +NWEA™ Teacher."

Murray serves as the Director of Innovation for Future Ready Schools, a project of the Alliance for Excellent Education, located in Washington, D.C. He also works alongside the U.S. Senate, the White House, the U.S. Department of Education and state departments of education, corporations and school districts throughout the country to implement student-centered, personalized learning methods.

Murray has received countless academic accolades, and was named the 2018 National/Global EdTech Leader of the Year by EdTech Digest, the 2017 Education Thought Leader of the Year to Watch by National School Board Association and the 2015 Education Policy Person of the Year by the Academy of Arts and Sciences. His latest book, "Learning Transformed: 8 Keys to Designing Tomorrow's Schools, Today," was published by Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development in 2017. Murray is also one of the co-founders of #edtechchat, a weekly educational technology Twitter forum, where hundreds of educators from around the world discuss topics related to the effective use of educational technology.

The event takes place during the week of the ISTE Conference, at 6 p.m. Nominations are open through April 1, 2019, and can be requested at this link [https://www.odysseyware.com/ed-impact-awards]. Nominations will be accepted for educators using Odysseyware in the following categories: 

  • Blended/Flipped Learning Classroom Teacher
  • Virtual Instruction Teacher
  • Alternative Education Teacher
  • Competency/Mastery Learning Teacher
  • Career & Technical Education Teacher
  • Odysseyware® +NWEA™ Teacher

Finalists, including nominees from each category, will be announced on April 30, 2019. An assortment of exciting prizes, including a mobile device storage cart (Connect30) from Spectrum Industries, Inc. and other valuable giveaways, will be awarded to one first-place winner in each of the six categories. The runners-up in each category will also be recognized on the Odysseyware website and receive a gift of appreciation and a Chromebook from Odysseyware. Finalists will be notified in writing on May 14, 2019, and recognized at the Odysseyware Educator Impact Awards reception.
