Honest Buildings And Convene Announce Annual Catalyst Conference
Exclusive Summit Gathers Leaders from Within and Outside the Real Estate Industry to Propose Big-Picture Ideas, Develop Innovative Solutions

NEW YORK, Feb. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The fabric of tomorrow's cities will be shaped by the strategies commercial real estate owners employ today. But innovation often requires an embrace of the unknown. For this reason, Honest Buildings, the only capital planning and project management platform purpose-built for real estate owners, and Convene, a network of premium places to work, meet, and host inspiring events, are joining forces for a second year, to connect senior strategic thinkers from both within and outside the real estate industry to explore big picture strategies that anyone in commercial real estate can apply to move their field, their discipline, and their careers forward.

The two-day event will take place May 2-3, 2019 in New York City at two of Convene's newest locations, One Liberty Plaza and 101 Greenwich Street.

With a mix of keynotes, fireside chats, roundtable discussions and panels, the conference presents innovative ideas from top leaders in real estate and combines them with problem solving strategies from thought leaders, academics, and technologists, to inspire creative new ways to move our industry forward.

Keynote speakers include:

Gregor Robertson, former Mayor of Vancouver, 2008 to 2018. In Mayor Robertson's decade in office Vancouver's economy led the country in growth and diversity, record levels of affordable housing, job space and public transit were built, and Vancouver became one of the world's greenest cities. Robertson will discuss how city governments, real estate developers, and technology companies can work together to build the cities of our future.

Lisa Picard, President and CEO, EQ Office. Speaking on how the makeup of a space can help transform the experience of the people who occupy that space. A student of workplace change, Picard will discuss the "Four C's" – the most important elements to achieve this transformation: Concentration, Collaboration, Community and Convenience and how it supports a company's culture.

Scott Hartley, venture capitalist and best-selling author of "The Fuzzy and the Techie: Why the Liberal Arts Will Rule the Digital World." Having served as a Presidential Innovation Fellow at the White House, a Partner at Mohr Davidow Ventures (MDV), and a Venture Partner at Metamorphic Ventures, plus stints at Google, Facebook, and Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet & Society, Hartley is an expert on ethics in technology and will speak about the future of work and human skills in our technology age.

Barbara White Bryson, Ed.D, FAIA, and author of "The Owner's Dilemma: Driving Success and Innovation in the Design and Construction Industry." She specializes in owner best practices and has 40 years' experience leading teams in project management, architectural practice, and university planning. Bryson will discuss the importance of creating a "Culture of Predictable Outcomes" in the design and construction industry and how owners can leverage leadership, collaboration, and "master-chef-level" decision-making to create the outcomes they desire.

Panel discussion topics include:

Applying Pressure: When to Lean In, When to Back Off, and How to Know the Difference: Hear from experts who have made their careers by understanding when to lean in and apply pressure to a new idea versus when to spend their time elsewhere.

What is the Next Era of Real Estate, and Who Will Help Us Operate in That Era? Hear from experts about innovations they believe will fundamentally change how our industry operates over the next 5 years.
