DEVCON Selected to Demonstrate Leading Anti-Ad Fraud Technology at Venture Atlanta 2018
Atlanta- and Memphis-based cybersecurity company's technology equips publishers to combat $19 billion fraudulent advertising problem

ATLANTA, Sept. 25, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- DEVCON, a cybersecurity software company dedicated to defeating ad fraud and preserving independent journalism, today announced it has been chosen to showcase its anti-fraud technology Oct. 16-17 at Venture Atlanta, the Southeast's foremost technology innovation and investor conference.

"We are committed to tracking down the cyber thieves stealing billions from the publishing industry each year and returning that money to the pockets of hard-working journalists," said Maggie Louie, Co-founder and CEO of DEVCON. "We're living in a vital period in the history of journalism, and it's extremely gratifying that Venture Atlanta recognizes this and sees the value in our mission to defend publishers from widespread fraudulent advertising. It's an honor to be among the 33 companies selected to demonstrate their technology at Venture Atlanta, especially with its rich history supporting innovative companies like ours."

Founded in 2017, DEVCON is an Atlanta- and Memphis-based cyber security software company, comprised of white-hat hackers, information security experts and digital media executives who are resolutely focused on solving the publishing industry's most costly problem: an estimated $19 billion stolen each year by advertising cyber criminals. While software providers have sought to combat ad fraud for years, DEVCON is the first to reliably trace fraudulent activity back to its source. Following the money and treating ad fraud as criminal activity, DEVCON helped law enforcement facilitate the first-ever conviction for online ad theft and money laundering, resulting in a four-year prison sentence.

"After pouring over hundreds of applications from promising companies, this year's list of participating companies was the hardest yet to select," said Ned Hill, managing director, technology banking at Square 1 Bank and Venture Atlanta 2018 company selection chair. "From emerging technology startups to more established venture-stage companies, it is clear that tech innovation in our region is incredibly bright and strong."

DEVCON, in association with Adhack.org, is now providing thousands of publishers with free access to its premier platform. Through the FREEDOM for MEDIA program, small and mid-sized publishers will have real-time alerts on ad fraud breaches and attacks, as well as access to multiple blocking options, revenue impact reports, ad quality auditing and easy tag management for ads.txt and GDPR compliance.
