LIMA, Peru and SILVER SPRING, Md., July 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Leadership Association returns to Latin America for its 2nd Latin American leadership conference in partnership with The Center for Leadership, Ethics and Social Responsibility at Universidad del Pacífico. Exploring the Dilemmas of Leadership in Latin America will take place 8-10 August at the university's beautiful facilities in the heart of Lima, Perú. Organizations and individuals from business, higher education, government, and community and nonprofit sectors will share actionable ideas and solutions-oriented approaches as they dialogue on the leadership challenges facing Latin America today. The conference pays special attention to the development of ethical leadership, social progress and responsibility, and the capacities needed to fulfil the promise of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Guiding questions include: What role do Latin American leaders play in designing socio-economic development programs that foster inclusion? What types of leadership do Latin American societies need to move forward? And, what are the leadership success stories and trends currently taking shape across Latin America?
Conference headliners Stefan Reich and Annette Richardson will be joined by Alberto de Belaunde and Sara Maria Cifuentes Ramseyer, young leaders having an impact in Perú. De Belaunde, an independent congressman pursuing liberal reforms, and Cifuentes Ramseyer, the head of Asociación Taller de los Niños, an NGO that works with children and families in need, will share their stories and experiences in a keynote conversation with Stefan Reich, Director and Founder of the Adaptive Leadership Center and a Professor at Adolfo Ibáñez University. Together, they will discuss the challenges of leadership and the systemic and personal stakes involved in trying to mobilize a system towards greater progress and prosperity. Later the same day, Reich will lead a special workshop, "How to Survive in Leading Change?" which will provide tips and tools for leaders.
Annette Richardson is a partner of Ambershore Group and a Special Advisor to the Executive Director of UN Women who also serves on the Board of Governors for The International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX). She will share her experiences implementing global, multi-stakeholder policy, advocacy, and outreach programs and campaigns in support of the global development priorities needed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Richardson's keynote will focus on "Bolder Commitments to Gender Leadership" and discuss how to sustain women's leadership and achieve economic gender parity.
In addition to the inspiring slate of plenary speakers, the conference includes two days of concurrent sessions on a variety of leadership topics. A featured panel, "Empowered Female Indigenous Leaders," will showcase the work of Peruvian Congresswoman Indira Huilca and Yesica Patiachi, the Director of Quality Management, Ministry of Education, Madre de Dios Region.
