Differentiation Experts Rick Wormeli & Jeffrey Benson Among Featured Speakers at National Conference

LAS VEGAS and PETERBOROUGH, N.H., June 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- National Board Certified teacher Rick Wormeli and 40+ year educator Jeffrey Benson will be among the featured presenters at the K-12 Differentiated Instruction strand of the 2017 SDE National Conference to be held July 10-14, 2017, in Las Vegas, NV.

"We are thrilled to welcome Rick and Jeffrey to our 2017 line-up of speakers. Rick, author of Differentiation and Fair Isn't Always Equal, will bring his unique brand of innovation, energy, validity, and high standards to his presentations, along with more than 30 years of teaching experience," says SDE program developer Mia Leonard-Solis.

"Jeffrey is the respected author of Hanging In: Strategies for Teaching the Students Who Challenge Us Most. He will share insights drawn from four decades of experience as an administrator and as a teacher in elementary, middle school, and high school," Leonard-Solis adds.

Rounding out the presenter line-up will be a team of experts who have learned the lessons and overcome the challenges and have a passion to share what they know. Featured speakers include:

  • Jan Burkins and Kim Yaris, thought leaders in the field of literacy instruction, literacy consultants with more than 40 years of combined experience working with schools and districts, and co-authors of Who's Doing the Work? and Preventing Misguided Reading.
  • Robert Jackson, a consultant, active member of 100 Black Men of Indianapolis, and author of the No More Excuses series of books, including Solutions to Educating Black and Latino Males.
  • Tara Brown, award-winning educator who has worked closely with at-risk youth, and author of Different Cultures, Common Ground.

Many teachers hesitate to add differentiation practices into their day because they lack the time, the expertise, or the confidence. This is a rare opportunity for every teacher—both differentiation novices and veterans—to gain multiple perspectives, ideas, and solutions delivered by the most engaging, approachable, and inspiring speakers in the field of differentiation.

"Meeting, hearing, and learning from the people who wrote the books and developed the strategies for reaching all learners will be an amazing, and even life-changing, experience," Leonard-Solis says.
