Yuma County, Arizona Receives National Award for Innovative Government Website
National Association of Counties Recognizes Customer Service Portal Created in Partnership with Vision

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., June 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Yuma County, Arizona's website, designed with partnership with the online government experts at Vision, has earned high praise and a 2017 Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo), the company announced today. Cited in the Civic Education and Public Information category, the county website was redesigned last year as a customer service portal that makes finding information and doing business with county government easier than ever before.

Yuma County, Arizona's website, designed in partnership with Vision, has earned a 2017 Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties and will be honored at the group's annual conference in July.

NACo's annual Achievement Award Program is designed to recognize innovative, effective county government programs that enhance services for residents. Yuma County's redesigned yumacountyaz.gov website makes customer service the highest priority and sports a "chat" feature on every page.

"We designed the site to touch people, to connect with them on a level they totally aren't expecting." said Kevin Tunell, communications director for Yuma County. "Our chat feature is among the first of its kind for a governmental website in the U.S."

County employees support the chat function during normal business hours and messages are relayed during off-hours. In addition, the homepage and departmental landing pages feature widgets that connect visitors directly to the most popular content.

In announcing the award, NACo President Bryan Desloge said, "Counties overcome complex challenges, provide essential services and constantly do more with less. We applaud these Achievement Award-winning counties for outstanding efforts to improve residents' quality of life."

David Nachman, CEO of Vision agrees. "Yuma County joins the growing group of Vision clients whose hard work has resulted in national recognition," Nachman said. "We celebrate their achievement and value their partnership as we work to make local government portals more effective, efficient and convenient for local residents."

Yuma County will be honored at an awards luncheon on July 23, 2017 at NACo's 2017 Annual Conference and Exposition in Columbus, Ohio.
