20th Milken Institute Global Conference to Drive Discussion and Action toward "Building Meaningful Lives"

LOS ANGELES, April 28, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Milken Institute will host its 20th annual Global Conference from April 30 through May 3, bringing together more than 4,000 attendees from more than 50 countries to craft and carry out creative solutions to the world's most complex problems.

This year's Global Conference theme is "Building Meaningful Lives," with more than 200 sessions designed for in-depth discussion encompassing global populism, terrorism, medical research, refugee and immigration policy, artificial intelligence, fiscal and monetary policy, longevity, and global investing trends.

"As we approach our 20th Global Conference, our convictions grow stronger about the power of the free marketplace of ideas, and the value of bringing together people with different viewpoints to explore solutions to serious issues," said Mike Klowden, Milken Institute chief executive officer. "We anticipate highly engaging discussions - and more importantly, new ideas that will translate to action and, ultimately, to positive impact for humanity."

The Milken Institute will seek to build on its track record of incubating ideas that emerge from Global Conference sessions into initiatives to implement solutions. Past discussions are bringing results all over the world, from new capital markets and investments in Africa, new medical research, programs to spur new financing and job creation in U.S. cities, public health campaigns in multiple countries, and services to help donors be more strategic in their philanthropic giving.

The Global Conference 2017 lineup of 750 speakers includes, for example: the 43rd President of the U.S. George W. Bush; the 47th Vice President of the United States Joseph R. Biden, Jr.; four current Cabinet Secretaries; Jim Yong Kim, President of the World Bank; Taro Aso, Deputy Prime Minister, Japan;

Jamie Dimon, Chairman and CEO, JPMorgan Chase & Co.; Elizabeth Blackburn, Nobel Laureate and President, Salk Institute; Arianna Huffington, Founder and CEO, Thrive Global and Founder, The Huffington Post; Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, NBA Hall of Fame champion and best-selling author; Reese Witherspoon, actress and producer; and leading investors, corporate executives, senior government officials, scientists, educators, philanthropists and journalists.
