V5 Systems Wins Two Security Industry Association's New Product Showcase Awards at 2017 ISC West Trade Show
Innovative portable, self-powered security products score double wins in the security industry's premier awards program.

FREMONT, Calif., April 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- V5 Systems, the industry pioneer in self-powered computing and security platforms for the outdoors, swept two wins in the Security Industry Association's New Product Showcase (SIA NPS) at the ISC West trade show in both categories the company entered. The SIA NPS is the security industry's premier awards-based marketing program and is judged by volunteers who are experts in security technology design and application. ISC West is the largest security industry trade show in the U.S., attracting over 29,000 security professionals annually.

V5 Systems scored a win in the category "Video Surveillance Hardware and Accessories" for its solar-powered V5 Camera Adaptive Platform (V5 CAP), which can provide perpetual power to 3rd party security cameras in the outdoors. It also won the "Emergency Communications/Mass Notifications Systems" category for its V5 Acoustic Gunshot Sensor.

The V5 CAP is an ongoing power source that addresses two fundamental challenges in security. The first challenge is accessing power in outdoor environments, which usually requires trenching for connectivity, a process that is costly and time-consuming. The second challenge is establishing networking and communications in areas where Wi-Fi connectivity is not possible. The V5 CAP solves both these challenges. It's an end-to-end power and communications platform, which can be integrated with any 3rd party surveillance camera and transform it into a self-powered outdoor device.

The V5 Acoustic Gunshot Sensor is the world's first portable, solar-powered gunshot locator device and is used to address active shooter events in outdoor areas. Since it does not need to be hard-wired to the grid, it can be deployed within 30 minutes and moved freely to other areas when needs change. It also features onboard communications and artificial intelligence technology, a capability that eliminates human verification of gunshot detection, leading to faster and more accurate response times.

On the double wins, Mazin Bedwan, President and Co-Founder of V5 Systems, stated, "It is very gratifying and quite special when the hard work and efforts of everyone on our team, starting from our CEO and working the way down the organization, is recognized and rewarded in such a way! Two very different solutions that have been developed out of an absolute dedication by our entire team, who are willing to put the required time to continue to drive innovation to solve real world security challenges." He added, "I am confident that V5 Systems will continue to be a leader in delivering outdoor Industrial IoT security and computing solutions to the market, because we have the team that it takes to make it happen!"

The New Product Showcase was established in 1979 to recognize innovative products, services and solutions in electronic physical security. Technologies showcased through this program are used in the protection of life and property in residential, commercial and institutional settings.
