AgriProtein wins Technology Research Award at CleanEquity® Monaco 2017 The 10th Anniversary - Hosted by Innovator Capital

LONDON, March 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- CleanEquity® Monaco 2017, the forum for emerging sustainable technology and resource efficiency companies, hosted by Innovator Capital and the Monaco Economic Board, closed on Friday, 10th March with the Awards Ceremony in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.

An independent panel of judges, chaired by His Serene Highness, selected AgriProtein as winner of the award for Excellence in the Field of Environmental Technology Research.

Mungo Park, Chairman of Innovator Capital commented:"The source, use and waste of food is now a matter of world class importance and press coverage is improving, finally. Innovation in the entire food chain is essential. AgriProtein's waste-to-nutrient technology is the first commercial scale insect meal production system in the world and a much needed relief for the fishing industry. I admire their progress and ambition."

Founded in 2008, AgriProtein pioneered the waste-to-nutrient recycling industry. It uses proprietary technology to up-cycle organic waste into a natural protein at an industrial scale. Fly larvae are reared and processed into MagMeal and MagOil - a sustainable alternative to fishmeal, which is widely-used in the aquaculture, farming and pet food industries.

Said Jason Drew, CEO of AgriProtein: "Success in cleantech has to be based on relentlessly thorough research, in terms of both market need and product performance. This award recognises all the hard work over the last eight years, delivered by the many passionate and dedicated people who have made AgriProtein the world leader in our field and are the driving force behind our success and global expansion. We're delighted to have won this prestigious award – especially as we are the first agtech business to win it - and warmly thank His Serene Highness and CleanEquity Monaco."

The company builds and operates its own fly-farms and has licensee partners on five continents. AgriProtein has been awarded numerous international accolades and awards while on its mission to find a better way to feed the world: solving the food security challenge, tackling the waste crisis and repairing the environment. The company has raised almost $30m to date, and with its industrial partners is now seeking a pre-IPO funding round to roll out its factories globally.

CleanEquity thanks, in particular: The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Covington & Burling, Deloitte, Cision, Parkview Group, Cranfield University, Cisco, the Social Stock Exchange, Hobbs & Towne, Monaco Economic Board and the International University of Monaco.

CleanEquity Monaco will be returning to the Principality of Monaco in March 2018.
