Annual North County Economic Summit to Highlight Forecasts, New North County Tech Study and Business Confidence Index
Award-winning Student Video Team to Showcase "North County's World of Work"

SAN MARCOS, Calif., March 16, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- An exciting and insightful program is planned for the 4th annual North County Economic Summit to be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM).

Wells Fargo Managing Director & Senior Economist Mark Vitner will present "The Big Picture," sharing trends and an analysis of what is currently happening and what to expect in the nation, California and San Diego County.

According to Vitner, "There is a great deal of optimism surrounding possible policy changes that may improve the current business environment.  Governments are increasingly looking at ways to reduce the regulatory burden on businesses, as a way to coax a little more job and income growth out of the economy."

In addition to Vitner, BW Research Partnership President Josh Williams will present an overview of the North County region's dynamic industry clusters, including the evolving innovation economy, the connections between quality of life and the business community, and an analysis of job quality, job volatility and the changing nature of employment.

This year's Summit will also include:

  • A 5-minute video presentation, created by the award-winning Carlsbad High School Television Network (CHSTV), on "North County's World of Work," highlighting how the region's K-12 schools are working with innovative businesses to prepare the region's students for the jobs of tomorrow.

  • The findings and analysis from the first-ever North County Technology Study researched and designed through a collaborative effort by San Diego Regional EDC, Innovate78, BW Research and San Diego North EDC. Kirby Brady, director of research with San Diego Regional EDC, will make the presentation.

  • A short overview of the North County Business Confidence Index based on a survey conducted by CSUSM and San Diego Business Journal.

North County Economic Development Corporation (NCEDC) is hosting the Summit, in partnership with Title Sponsor, Wells Fargo. Tickets are $150 each and include breakfast, as well as printed and electronic economic reports. For information and to register: www.sdnedc.org/summitinfo.
