Softheon to Sponsor Hackathon Event at the Center of Wireless and Information Technology at Stony Brook University

STONY BROOK, N.Y., Jan. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Softheon, a proven leader in cloud-based health insurance exchange integration and remediation, will sponsor the inaugural Hack@CEWIT. In celebration of the upcoming National Engineers Week and George Washington's birthday, the nation's first engineer, the New York State Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology will host its inaugural region-wide, interdisciplinary student hackathon, Hack@CEWIT. This hackathon will focus on industry-relevant internet of things (IoT) and microservices challenges in the Center's 100,000 s.f., next-generation research and education facility — at Stony Brook University.

As strengthening the technology and engineering workforce pipeline is an integral component of Softheon's three-fold mission, Hack@CEWIT will bridge academic brainpower with regional industry priorities, investigating innovative, next-generation solutions while advancing tech literacy and fostering new enterprise development.

"We are celebrating National Engineers Week and George Washington's birthday with an event to bring together forward-thinking minds to change the status quo and create disruptive solutions in healthcare today. If you are an engineer, entrepreneur, physician, designer, or scientist, then come to Hack@CEWIT and meet us as we change healthcare" said Chuck Marcelin, Talent Acquisition Lead at Softheon.

Hack@CEWIT is designed to select scenarios that will have a direct, real-world application to their product portfolios. A lab-to-marketplace approach that is largely representative of CEWIT and one that provides a valuable educational resource for our students and regional business community.

Softheon Founder and CEO, Eugene Sayan, added "We are in the early days of IOT and Wearables.  With a plentitude of sensors on the devices drawing multidimensional pictures of our health, we are excited about the opportunities before us and we invite all great minds to meet at Hack@CEWIT, to discuss and find ways of impacting people's lives in a positive way and create examples of socially relevant technologies."

The Softheon team will guide and mentor the Hack@CEWIT attendees on broad topics, including IoT, MicroServices, Wearables, and BigData using:

  • Softheon Identity Services & OAuth 2.0
  • Softheon Payment Services & PCI DSS
  • Softheon Data Services & OData
