Dr. Adam Elhofy of Essential Pharmaceuticals Chosen to Present New Glycosylation Bioproduction Data at the 2017 PepTalk Protein Science Week

EWING, N.J., Jan. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Essential Pharmaceuticals, LLC will present new data at the 16th annual PepTalk Protein Science Week, January 9-13 in San Diego, California.  PepTalk is one of the largest annual gatherings of protein science researchers in the world.  Essential Pharmaceuticals will present data on the product Cell-Ess® during the plenary session and poster session.  In addition to the presentation and poster, Essential Pharmaceuticals will be exhibiting at booth #421, where they will also be presenting Clin-Ess®, a tissue transport and preservation medium.

Cell-Ess is the world's first universal titer boost and enhancer that works across a wide range of media systems.  Cell-Ess used as a feed improves consistency in glycosylation patterns while increasing protein titer by 20-50% compared to control in various cell lines and media schemes.  The increase is observed in glass shake flasks, single-use Wave BioreactorsTM, and ambr® cell culture systems.  In a 5-minute video, Essential Pharmaceuticals CEO Allan Weber and CSO Dr. Adam Elhofy discuss why Cell-Ess was invented, what makes it different from traditional media supplements and feeds, and the impact on bioproduction productivity, efficiency and cost management.

"Cell-Ess has repeatedly been shown to increase protein titer and productivity in numerous cell lines and media systems," says Dr. Elhofy.  "Our new data confirms that Cell-Ess not only boosts protein output, but also simultaneously improves consistency of glycosylation patterns and increases the amount of higher glycoforms or galactosylation."

"Cell-Ess utilizes a patent-pending lipid delivery mechanism that helps stabilize cell membranes and improve protein synthesis," says Allan.  "Because of this unique technology, Cell-Ess can be added to an already optimized media and feed system to further boost per cell productivity while improving protein quality and consistency."

Dr. Elhofy will be presenting his talk "Improved antibody quality and consistency in CHO cells using a novel supplement" during Stream 4 on Wednesday, January 11 at 9:35 AM in Sapphire L.  He will be presenting his poster #A305 during Session 3A: Optimizing Biologics Formulation Development on Monday, January 9th and Tuesday, January 10th.
