Cayman Alternative Investment Summit Announces 2017 Lineup of Industry Speakers

GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands, Oct. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading thinkers and decision makers in the global alternative investments industry will convene in the Cayman Islands on February 15-17, 2017 for the fourth annual Cayman Alternative Investment Summit (CAIS), held at the new Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa. The not-for-profit event is expected to convene 400-plus institutional investors, fund managers, academics, economists, regulators and service providers to discuss opportunities and challenges facing the alternative investment community.

This year's theme, "Defying Gravity: The Future of Alternative Investments in Exceptional Times," will explore a wide range of topics, such as the impact of central bank policy, opportunities in credit and infrastructure investing, and a discussion on how artificial intelligence and blockchain technology are changing investment operations. There will also be panels on how to improve client service and how to advance philanthropic efforts both locally and internationally.

"As the theme suggests, we are living in incredible times – both as investors and as a global society," said Chris Duggan, Director of CAIS and VP of Community Development for event sponsor, Dart. "The combination of rapid technological change and major geopolitical shifts has created a market environment that is harder than ever to navigate, highlighted by recent market shocks like this summer's Brexit vote. In this world of constant change and uncertainty, the alternative investment industry must come together to address challenges and prepare for the future."

A current list of industry speakers is below, with additional special guest speakers expected to be announced later this fall:

  • Pippa Malmgren, Founder of DRPM Group and an American policy analyst
  • Nouriel Roubini, Co-Founder & Chairman of Roubini Global Economics
  • Mark Yusko, Founder, Chief Investment Officer & Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Creek Capital Management
  • Valerie Sill, President & CEO of DuPont Capital Management
  • Mark Okada, Co-Founder & Chief Investment Officer of Highland Capital Management
  • Daniel Summerfield, Co-Head of the Responsible Investment Team of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS)
  • David McWilliams, Economist, Broadcaster and Journalist

"We are delighted to host such an accomplished array of speakers at our upcoming event," added Duggan. "Cayman is the world's fifth largest financial center and home to a thriving business community, and we look forward to bringing everyone together for three days of stimulating debate to address some of the largest issues and challenges facing us today."

CAIS 2017 speakers and attendees will also have the opportunity to see some of the biggest names in tennis at the 2017 Legends Tennis Tournament in Camana Bay on February 17, the last night of the conference.
