Accella's New TLC Tire and Rim Protection Formulas for the OTR Mining Industry Deliver the Most Effective Corrosion Protection on the Market

ST. LOUIS, Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Accella Tire Fill Systems announced availability of its newest TLC Tire and Rim Protection line, designed specifically for Off-the-Road (OTR) mining equipment. Accella, makers of the patented TyrFil® polyurethane liquid fill, now offers its TLC line in four distinct formulations – HT, Pro, Extreme, and Tundra.  TLC acts as a coolant – conditioning the wheel and coating the inside of rims to protect them from rust and deterioration. Accella's new tire and rim protection offering was determined by independent field testing to be highly effective in reducing corrosion therefore extending tire life and safeguarding against premature equipment failure.

Offering the best continual vapor dispersion to extend the life of both tires and rims, the new advanced rust-inhibiting technology utilized in Accella's latest TLC product line delivers superior resistance against corrosion even in the most extreme weather conditions, available in freeze protection levels from 20° F to -40° F. The new line will be featured at the mining industry's biggest global event, MINExpo International 2016 in Las Vegas, September 26-28th.

TLC Tire and Rim Protection liquid helps to prevent corrosion for longer tire life, easier tire changes, reduced downtime and costs, and overall safer operation. The TLC formulas are also non-toxic, non-flammable and non-hazardous – making them the most comprehensive and versatile form of wheel and rim corrosion protection in the tire industry.

"Corrosion is a significant issue in the OTR mining space," explains Joe Negrey, Vice President of Accella Tire Fill Systems.  "It causes immeasurable damage to both mining equipment wheels as well as tires while negatively impacting equipment performance and reliability, making vehicles potentially unsafe for operators.  Our expanded TLC formulations offer the best protection in the industry, and have been rigorously tested to endure even the most severe heat and cold extremes."

To prove the strength of TLC products, Applied Technical Services, Inc. (ATS), one of the industry's top tier consulting engineering firms and independent labs with extensive testing and inspection capabilities, conducted a series of rigorous corrosion tests on Accella's TLC Tire and Rim Protection and compared them to other industry leading products.

For the corrosion testing, ATS constructed specialized chambers to simulate a year of field use in a Mining OTR tire that operates at up to 176°F on a two-shift basis. To achieve this, corrosion testing was conducted at extreme temperatures of 212° and 100 PSI.  The results said it all:  At the end of a 30-day test, the sample steel coated in TLC PRO had only a 0.005% reduction in weight.  The competition sample had corroded over 2.6 times as much, with a 0.013% weight loss.  The significant difference in weight loss between the samples offers proof of performance of much higher levels of corrosion protection from TLC products.

The direct impact for OTR mining vehicle operators is two-fold: better performance and enhanced safety.  TLC delivers reduced equipment down time and decreases annual operating costs.  Sustained use of the product also helps to prevent catastrophic tire failures out in the field.

Adds Matt Hanson, TLC Product Manager: "Field testing revealed that, given time, the competition's accelerated rate of corrosion would likely lead to premature equipment failures, safety issues and potential lost productivity – something that mining operators simply can't afford."

About Accella Tire Fill Systems
Accella shapes ideas that enhance our lives through improved comfort, safety, sustainability and performance.  TyrFil®, Accella Tire Fill System's patented tire fill, also known as foam fill, can be pumped into any pneumatic tire to replace air with a resilient, synthetic rubber core that completely eliminates dangerous tire flats in commercial and industrial heavy equipment vehicles.  Since TyrFil reduces the need for tire replacement, it directly helps to defray vehicle repair costs and also drastically eases environmental strain by helping to keep whole tire and scrap tire waste – and the unwanted emissions and carbon footprint they create – out of domestic and international landfills.  With TyrFil, "it's what's inside that counts."
