SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Select attendees at the Verge 16 conference next week will be shuttled by a Tesla Model X provided by Green Commuter, the innovative clean energy company that has developed a software platform to manage its fleet of Tesla Model X vehicles for a combined and affordable service of vanpool, car sharing and fleet replacement.

Green Commuter is launching the zero emission vanpool/car-sharing/fleet replacement system in Los Angeles, as well as an all-electric car sharing program in Tennessee. Other regions have expressed interest in Green Commuter's promising clean-energy transportation program. The company chose Tesla's new SUV model because it has ample seating for seven, which qualifies as a vanpool vehicle, and its battery capacity is sufficient for long-range driving.
"There is very strong appeal for our program because users will now have an easy, affordable way to use a Tesla Model X to travel to work, around town, or for weekend trips outside the city," said CEO Gustavo Occhiuzzo. Green Commuter has developed a unique software enabling vanpools to use a Model X for commutes to and from work, then allow Green Commuter members to reserve and use these vehicles for car sharing during non-commuting hours. The system enables greater vehicle utilization and increased revenue streams, which allows the company, in many cases, to offer its services at lower rates than stand-alone schemes.
