SANS Announces Agenda for San Diego Security Training Event
Bonus Evening Discussion to Offer Insight into How to Achieve Leadership Support for Security Initiatives

BETHESDA, Md., Aug. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SANS Institute, the global leader in information security training, today announced the agenda for SANS San Diego 2016 taking place October 23 – 28. The event will feature hands-on immersion style training courses for security professionals at all levels. Many of the courses have Certifications that are aligned with DoD Directive 8570/8140 and all courses at this event are associated with GIAC Certifications. Bonus evening discussions will round out the agenda on topics such as Advancing the Security Agenda - Compelling Leadership to Support Security presented by SANS Instructor, Doc Blackburn.

According to Blackburn, "One of the biggest challenges InfoSec professionals face today is getting leadership to support security activities. Many times it is not until after a breach occurs, and the lack of security is to blame, that the necessary security resources are made available. Join me at SANS San Diego where I will share insight into what security professionals can do to help advance their agenda and achieve the funding that is needed to support security initiatives."

In addition to his evening discussion, Blackburn will teach the popular SEC301: Intro to Information Security course. The SEC301 course is great for people who are new to information security and are in need of an introduction to the fundamentals of security. For more seasoned security professionals, SANS will offer a number of challenging courses including SEC501: Advanced Security Essentials - Enterprise Defender, SEC503: Intrusion Detection In-Depth, SEC511: Continuous Monitoring and Security Operations and more.

SANS San Diego 2016 will also feature daily Cyber Defense Challenges. The challenges will require a knowledge of information security, packets, log analysis, cryptography, IPv4, IPv6, and more. Daily challenges will increase in difficulty as the week progresses.
