CompTIA Shares Cybersecurity Expertise at "Two Steps Ahead: Protect Your Digital Life"
National education campaign kicks off today in Denver

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., April 26, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the technology industry, said today it is participating in a new national campaign to educate consumers and businesses on simple, yet effective security measures to stay safe and secure online.

CompTIA is the voice of the world's information technology industry.

"Two Steps Ahead: Protect Your Digital Life" is presented by the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), a nonprofit public-private partnership focused on helping all digital citizens stay safer and more secure online. The national education tour kicks off today in Denver.

"Today's technology options are a boon to efficiency, productivity and access to information, but they can be a cybersecurity nightmare when safe computing practices aren't used," said Todd Thibodeaux, president and CEO, CompTIA.

"Research consistently shows that the weakest link in cybersecurity defense is the person using the connected device," Thibodeaux continued. "This national tour will educate and empower consumers and businesses with effective security practices to stay safe online at home, at work or on the road."

Patrick Lane, senior manager, product management, CompTIA, will participate in the Denver program as a member of an "Ask the Experts" panel.

"The range of threats and the challenges they present expand just as rapidly as technology evolves," Lane noted. "That's why there is a critical need for implementing security features, such as two-factor authentication, for an extra layer of protection. By using existing security tools and technologies, we can better secure our log-ins and accounts, which goes a long way to keeping us safe online."

CompTIA is at the forefront of cybersecurity protections, with best practices for organizations; research and educational materials on the latest security trends and topics; skills certifications for technology workers; and CompTIA CyberSecure™, an innovative training course for employees on the cybersecurity best practices that are vital to protecting a business.
