Easy and Effective Functional Test for Pediatric Ophthalmology Assessment with RETeval Complete™ Touted by Early Adopters

GAITHERSBURG, Md., March 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Jim Datovech, President of LKC Technologies, Inc. said, "We are learning from a number of ophthalmologists just how fast, easy, and effective functional testing of the retina can be using RETeval Complete on pediatric patients."

An early adopter from a leading academic eye institute explained to LKC that she believes that RETeval is quite useful when the ophthalmologists encounter children with uncertain visual potential, saying, "It's especially helpful in young children with nystagmus and a normal fundus, who may have a disorder like Leber's congenital amaurosis, congenital stationary night blindness or achromatopsia."

Furthermore, she commented about how RETeval is helpful in testing for functional vision loss/malingering and the unfortunate scenario where a child claims they cannot see, though they have a normal eye exam, and when parents, understandably, become very concerned. She added, "Demonstrating a normal RetEval exam in clinic in a matter of 1 minute is great here."

Dr. Quentin Davis, LKC's COO, added, "A common theme from ophthalmologists conducting pediatric ophthalmology assessments with the RETeval Complete is how easy it is to use in young children without rescheduling, tears, dilation or sedation. Others remark about the benefits of having such a small and portable testing device, allowing easy transport to such locations as the testing theatre or O.R." Davis continued, "One international provider reported, it makes me more efficient.

LKC Technologies, Inc. will exhibit the RETeval Complete at the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology (AAPOS) annual meeting in Vancouver, BC April 6 – 10, 2016.  Special pricing for the RETeval Complete will be offered at the event.

Dr. Sara Grace, an ophthalmologist at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, will present at AAPOS: "Handheld Portable Electoretinogram Screening in the Pediatric Population" at Poster session #31 on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Refer to the meeting program for further details.
