NEW YORK, March 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Horizon International's executive leadership, John Ferguson, MBA and Doreen Santora, R.N., recently traveled to Slovakia to meet with the leadership teams of Malacky Hospital, various physicians, and patients who came for consultations; as well as to cultivate BHI's cellular and regenerative medicine program and observe the daily operations of the new program.

In addition, they also attended the annual orthopedic congress that was held March 10-11 in Bratislava. Brian Mehling, M.D., founder and chief medical officer of BHI, one of the speakers, presented the preliminary date outcomes of BHI's program.

More than 100 patients have successfully received autologous stem cell therapy for their joint diseases.

Ms. Santora, chief operating officer of BHI is also COO of BHI Therapeutic Sciences, LLC, a company that offers a novel method of arthritis therapy using a patient's own stromal vascular fraction (SVF) cells including mesenchymal stem cells. BHI is fully licensed by the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic to provide adipose stem cell therapies for orthopedic joint applications - knees, hips, shoulders, and ankles. Procedures utilize cutting-edge technology and adult stem cells only.

"Stem cell therapy is primarily intended for patients with a diagnosis of joint osteoarthritis, whether being a gonarthrosis or coxarthrosis of first and second degree. Malacky Hospital is the only medical institute performing treatment of hip and knee osteoarthrosis with stem cells using the technology of BHI," said Ms. Santora.

John Ferguson, chief executive officer of BHI who also attended the meetings in Slovakia added, "Malacky Hospital has great potential to become a leader in the European region with the therapies we are and will be offering to local patients there. I am pleased with the fact that Malacky Hospital is staffed with expertly-trained medical professionals and is one of the premiere hospitals in Central Europe." Mr. Ferguson, formerly CEO of Hackensack University Medical Center, transformed the center from a community hospital into a nationally recognized medical center.

Ing Peter Kalencik, MBA, CEO of Malacky Hospital said: " It was a great pleasure to have them visit our facility, to share their experience with us. We are proud to be a local partner of BHI in Slovakia and we believe in a successful future for the program."
