Additionally, Dr. Stacey will participate in the panel discussion called "Conducting Global Clinical Trials: Critical Success Factors to Accelerate Approvals" on the same day. The prevalence of Alzheimer's in Japan and many Asian countries is expected to increase in parallel to, or even exceed, the prevalence of the disease in Western countries. Interestingly, studies have shown that the percentage of Alzheimer's patients that are APOE4 non-carriers is greater in the Asian population than in the Western population. This is particularly important for Accera as the greatest benefit of AC-1204 is observed in APOE4 non-carrier patients, and its Phase 3 clinical program is focused on demonstrating efficacy in this particular segment of the Alzheimer's population.
