Winners of the 2015-2016 Smart Connected Devices Brands Top 15 and Smart Phone Brands Top 15 Unveiled
Brands from China embraced with explosive growth

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The 49th International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) was held in Las Vegas, on January 7, 2016. During CES, the 2015-2016 Global Top Brands award ceremony, hosted by International Data Group (IDG), was also held, as one of the most important events in the CE Industry.

Mr. Josh London, CMO of IDG Communications, unveiled the award lists of 2015-2016 Global Smart Connected Devices Brands Top 15 and 2015-2016 Global Smart Phone Brands Top 15. Altogether, six Chinese smart connected device brands entered the honor roll, including Lenovo, Huawei, ZTE, TCL Communication, Coolpad and MI, along with their two world-renowned counterparts, Apple and Samsung. This is the second time for the top 5 Chinese brands "ZHCL" (namely, ZTE, HUAWEI, Coolpad and Lenovo) and MI to find their names on the list, showcasing the competitiveness of mobile phone and communication devices of the Chinese brands in the wave of smart connected technologies.

The highlights at the 2015-2016 Global Top Brands ceremony, the two award lists of 2015-2016 Global Smart Connected Devices Brands Top 15 and 2015-2016 Global Smart Phone Brands Top 15, selected and compiled jointly by IDG and International Data Corporation (IDC), based on the most authoritative market research results from IDC, presented a thorough overview and analysis of the development of global smart connected devices and smart phone industry in 2015.

The award receivers of 2015-2016 Global Smart Connected Devices Brands Top 15 included the following brands: Samsung, Apple, Huawei, Lenovo, MI, LG, ZTE, ALCATEL ONETOUCH (TCL Communication), OPPO, vivo, Microsoft, Coolpad, Sony, Meizu and HTC.

The 2015-2016 Global Smart Phone Brands Top 15 went to Samsung, Apple, Lenovo, HUAWEI, MI, LG, HP, ZTE, ASUS, Dell, ALCATEL ONETOUCH (TCL Communication), OPPO, Microsoft, vivo and Coolpad.

As for the Individual Awards, Coolpad MAX smart phone won the title of 2015 Smart Phone Information Safety Gold Award, while JmGO was honored with the 2015 Global Most Innovative Projector.

Recent years has seen the prevailing trend of smart connected devices and smart phones in the global market, thanks to the rapid integration of CE products with brand-new Internet tech including Mobile Internet and smart connected applications. Smart mobile devices and the APP industry have been moving forward while reinforcing each other; technological integration is seeing continuous breakthrough in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), mobile operating system and smart voice technologies. All these ushered in the new market trend featuring personal smart terminal devices. According to the data from IDC, the global smart phone sales surged to 1.4 billion in 2015. IDC predicts global smart phone shipments will see the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.4% in 2017, while the smart phone market would climb up to 1.7 billion shipments and the overall smart connected device market would surpass 2.2 billion shipments.

The emerging Chinese market will remain the main battle field for smart connected devices and smart phones; more significantly, local smart connected devices and smart phone vendors from China have already become a major market force. Chinese brands, making up the majority of the two award lists, have come of age. The Chinese market has also become the superb testing ground for local smart connected devices and smart phone companies which also have ambitions to go to the global market.  

At the International Consumer Electronics Industry Leaders Summit held before the ceremony, senior executives from Changhong, ZTE, Coolpad, TCL, Huawei, Lenovo and BOE, started high-level dialog with the guests from IDC, focusing on topics regarding the current situation and trends for smart connected devices and the smart phone industry, how the industry better adapts to the Internet Plus era, sustainable development of the industry, as well as how to maintain competitiveness of brands.
